LOVED this hostel. It was outside of downtown London (which I wanted) and it had free breakfast, towels, and a lot of security. There is an outside space and plenty of space in the rooms. It was clean and the staff were friendly. Also, they had vegan and vegetarian options for food which was an added surprise. Couldn't recommend more! A lot fo stairs though so if you are unable to use stair I would consider this.

The Birds Inn was a super cute place to stay! Staff was all friendly, bathrooms and bedrooms were pretty clean, and I loved the pub downstairs. It wasn't necessarily super close to central London, but it was right by a tube stop, very easy to get around from there, and Leytonstone itself was a nice area. The wifi was good and worked throughout the hostel. I'd bring your own luggage lock and towels (Available to rent). Cold breakfast included. Would definitely recommend the place!

We had an early flight at Stansted the next day and were coming from an Easter party rather late in the evening, and only ended up staying for five or so hours. The airport bus is only two stops away on the metro. The staff were very polite even though it was a late check-in. The bar seemed like a cool place to hang out. The beds and pillows were super comfortable. The bathrooms did not radiate beauty or particular cleanliness, but this is pretty typical of hostels at the lower price range.

    Very Good

All the good points for this hostel are based mostly on the pub, a great place to sit and work or read all day and help yourself to free tea and coffee, and the staff are pretty nice. The actual hostel itself I wouldn’t rate as highly - the “24 hour check in” doesn’t seem real as I tried it and got no response nor apology when I showed up at 1am after emailing them prior only to find the hostel was closed. Rooms are a little small and have the three bed tiers which isn’t shown in the pics

    Very Good

This hostel is primarily a bar/ restaurant and a hostel second. The room was okay, small lockers and the beds were cramped together. The hardest part about the rooms was the lack of bathrooms. They had more showers on our floor than they did toilets which didn’t make for an easy morning. The hostel is close to the tube and easy to navigate through London. The cleanliness was also okay, lots of little things that could have had a little more attention in the cleaning area, but not horrible.

Some staff are welcoming and smoky and the rest are gloomy and confused, large bar area but very open and hard wood, need some partitions to make it more cosy, very clean and comfortable beds, clean rooms and bathrooms. You can find some nice entertainment places surrounding the hostel. Staff need to dress presentable, you cannot tell who is the staff and who are the hippies or homeless. Nice back garden at the back but it will only be nice during summer.

The hostel is 12 km from the city center and takes 2 trains and 30 minutes to get into London It ended up being okay but was a surprise. The floor in our room was sticky and had some black stuff ground into it that seemed impossible to get off the floor. The sheets were crisp and clean though. I had forgotten shower shoes and that is a must-have here. The water closets and showers are in a common area shared with men. The shower was clogged and didn't drain. It was loud and difficult to sleep.

No common area, no kitchen, no shared fridge. The carpets clearly need a steam cleaning. They need to use mops on the dorm floors (not just vacuum) as they are sticky. The staff is nice though.

The Hostel is around 35 minutes away from London's main sightseeings, however it is quite close to a metro (tube) station. Neighborhood is pretty quiet during the Day but at night you may encounter some not-so-nice drunken people. Bedrooms get some noise from the bar, not too much. Breakfast works for only getting full. Although beds are comfortable and seem clean, nothing else does (eg. The dishes) Overall, for the lower price, I would say it is a good option. Shower's are ok, WC are not.
