Exceeded my expectations. A special place where like-minded folk come together, and look out for each other. Friendly, inclusive environment, but one where your privacy is respected. Spartan, but in a very functional, homely way. Loved the decor, which was subdued, calming and tasteful. Liked the artwork and designs.

Simply amazing, the owners are extra nice and friendly, and there’s such a nice vibe going on! It’s been beautifully renovated from the prison, with original decorations, and everything is spotless. I strongly recommend and would love to come back!

Pretty good hostel and very convenient for location, services and accommodation. They even offer service to "campervans" for reduced fee. Hosts have been very helpful when in need of an emergency phone call and getting me sorted out. Would definitely recommend, but we aware of the schedule you carry, because even though you might not vibe as a party person, if you're late you will get called out. If you are having a conversation you will also be called out. Just try to be mindful of schedule.

Good hostel, really liked the vibe and the history. We stayed in the shared dorm which had a few long term residents (a couple of them were a bit noisy but all seemed nice). I'd love to stay in one of the privates so we'll definitely come back for that!

Very nice staff, equally keen on some friendly banter as they are to help you out with odd requests (thank you for finding both a vacuum and an extension cord so I could make my rental car somewhat more presentable before returning it). Love the way the hostel looked - colourful and less clinically clean than for example the YHA hostels. Good vibe, although I was a bit sad the rooftop terrace wasn't illuminated at night.

We stayed at Cell Block for 2 nights. Excellent location for eating/drinking out as is central town. Also an easy drive to nearby walks/hikes which is why we chose it. Lovely staff, happy to help. No locks on rooms and lockers are in a communal space which was a bit weird for a hostel. Main security was good though with keypad locks at the main entrances. Nice roof terrace which I imagine is great for socialising in summer. Kitchen was a bit small but functional.

A quirky place to stay with lots of character. Not much privacy as staff and others are always around making it seem a little cramped but everyone was friendly to talk to and helpful. A bit average but provided everything we needed with a smile. Cleverly reconverted from the old jail block. Not much parking though.
