Overview

Swimming, sunshine and snoozing: that's what we're about at The Dreamer Hostel in Santa Marta. That's right – we have our own outdoor pool! Take a seat on our garden terrace or sway in a hammock. Want to chat to locals? Take it further than ‘hola’ with a free Spanish lesson and then head to The Coelhos Bar to practise over a tropical drink. For authentic pizza, head to our Italian restaurant. Burger fans can cook up a sizzling dinner on the barbecue.

Location

It's an easy trip from Simón Bolívar International Airport: just a 20 minute taxi ride. From Terminal de Transportes de Santa Marta bus station, we’re a five-minute drive. Fancy a day at the beach? Take a cab to Rodadero – you'll be on the sand within 15 minutes. To get off the trodden path, spend a day in the fishing village of Taganga, an 18-minute drive from us. If you love the great outdoors, head to the nearby coves and lagoons of Tayrona National Park, soak up the natural beauty of the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains or take in the city sights of downtown Santa Marta.

Rooms and Dorms

We’re a hostel run by travellers and we’ve taken inspiration from our passport stamps to name each of our mixed dorms after our fave countries. In Santa Marta as a twosome? Stay in a private room. We know extra perks make a big difference, so linen and towels are free. Plus, we have free lockers and there's air con for those hot Colombian nights.

Extras and activities

Already seen Simón Bolívar Park? Ask our tour desk about trips to the mountains, beaches or the Lost City (an ancient archaeological site) as well as horseback riding and diving. Upload your expedition pics via our free Wi-Fi then head to the TV lounge for Xbox fun. You can save some pesos by making dinner in our communal kitchen – we have a mini supermarket for essentials.

AMAZING STAY. AMAZING STAFF. Will definitely come again. The vibe and atmosphere were incredible and made our stay in Santa Marta all the more better. The staff was so helpful from beginning to end and could not have made us feel more welcome. And the food from the kitchen...we did not even have to leave to eat because their food was SO good. Thanks!!!

Honestly, one of the best hostels I've stayed in in SA. The pool, the bar, the aircon, the kitchen, the TV room, the friendly staff - it basically has it all except for a free breakfast and a central location. Stayed here twice too. Laura at reception was especially lovely!

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Although the hostel is located a taxi-ride from the city centre, this should be seen more as a positive than a negative. The hostel is exceptionally clean and is very well staffed in this regard. The buffet breakfast is good and the on-site restaurant is excellent in terms of its service, quality & menu. Above all else, it is the staff that sets this hostel apart. They couldn't be more helpful and were always so pleasant to deal with. Highly recommend!

Always see someone cleaning and it shows. Vibe conducive to meeting people. Not a fan of the location; bus or taxi everywhere. Unsure of the security in the area, more residential. Hostel is like a large gated house. Locks for dorms, but no keys. Large lockers - bring lock. Room w/ AC *highly* recommended. Towels included. Lots of English speakers. Seems like a hostel for foreign travelers; everyone very friendly, just something to be aware of. People working at the hostel extremely helpful.

Really cool hostel with a great ambiance. Easy access to Minca and Tayrona National Park, which are Santa Marta’s main attractions (however, it’s a bit far from the city itself, so if you plan on going there, this location would be challenging). Pool, bar, and “restaurant” on site—it did get a little loud at night as the bar is situated in a courtyard, but overall, fun vibes and nice people. Met fellow travelers and had a solid trip while staying there.

Really cool hostel! Was lovely being able to chill outside all day. Staff are great, so helpful in booking trips and buses for you. Fan room is muggy but just about bearable - I’d advise booking AC if you think it’ll bother you. Shower pressure sucks but other than that no complaints!! Highly recommend!

We arrived on a Tues, the place was popping, music, drinks people everywhere! There is nowhere to escape and quiet time is not until 12. Frustrating since we were leaving for the park at 7. Music finally ends at 12. However, it was made worse by two different couples having sex on the top bunks in our room until 2 Am. Did not sleep at all. When we returned, the hostel had put me on a top bunk (the same the couples had used) despite my previous ask bc of an injury. Guy snorted coke below me.Yikes
