Property Description

If you are looking for a nice place to rest, chill and explore the city then you have found the right hostel. We are a young English speaking Mongolian couple who opened this hostel in 2017, full of positive intentions and always trying to make your trip to Mongolia memorable and unique, with a home to base yourself in and come back to in Ulaanbaatar.
We are located slightly outside the city centre in a relaxed, quiet residential neighbourhood away from all the chaos. We are just north of the Train station (2.5km), between the Dragon bus station (3.5km west) and city centre (3.5km east). Getting to the hostel is cheap and easy with public bus ($0.30), taxi ($2-3), free bicycle hire from us, or about a 4km walk to most things to see in the city.

We want you to feel at home here. Our place is a cosy wooden house with comfortable large beds including electrical outlets in every dorm bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a clothes washing machine free for use and big private bathrooms.
We have our large Chillout Terrace where you can have a drink, play music or games, meet new friends, spend time with other travelers our simply us! Beside the terrace we have an outdoor hot tub/jacuzzi and fire place where you can warm up on a cold Mongolian night with your new friends. We also have a cosy indoor chillout room with a fire place if the weather is not so great. We love to share our culture and experience with our guests and hope you can join us. We offer nice home cooked meals on request, and also offer motorbikes to rent for as much time as you need if you want to get away.

We know showing up in Ulaanbaatar after a long trip and trying to find your way around can be a stressful and confusing experience, which is why we offer a free pickup serivce from the Train station or Dragon bus station. Just email us your expected arrival time and travel info in advance or give us a call once you arrive.

For our more artistic travellers, we can offer free accommodation if you are willing to draw or paint around our hostel, please mention it to us when you arrive!

We also offer our weekly activites:

Uyanga and Baagii, the young Mongolian couple who run this beautiful hostel, are kind, welcoming and full of the spirit that brings people to Mongolia again and again. Uyanga helped me organise hiring jeeps and drivers for two separate trips within minutes, for much cheaper than could be found online or with tour companies. All this while having a one month old baby girl. They are forever a part of my family and are welcome at my place whenever they please.

A clean and homey hostel with a very nice outdoor space, located just outside the centre of the city - just what I was after. Only had one night there but had a nice chat and fun little barbeque with the owners and the few other guests there. As it was quiet I also got a free upgrade to a private room. Would definitely return here on another trip to Mongolia.

literally my favourite hostel I've stayed in. it's not some sterile boring pseudo-hotel, this place has history, character and charm. Bugi (sorry if that's not how you spell it bro!) and Uyanga, the owners are literally your best friends, parents and travel agents all rolled into one. mongolia can be a bit tough with the lingo and all but they speak perfect English, know all the best spots in town and are just legends. location is a bummer but taxis r litetally pennies out there. the second I walked into this hostel I felt at home!! Uyanga and her husband have done such a good job at creating a welcoming atmosphere. The beds are incredibly comfortable, free breakfast, and super cozy lounging areas. If you’re looking for a home away from home, this is the place!

I really like the homey atmosphere of the Garage. It's run by a young couple who speak excellent english and have alot of knowledge about Mongolia. They treat everyone like close friends or family which makes it a great place to meet others. I chose this place because i felt it was more the place for independent travellers, and now I've come back at the end of Mongolia because it feels like home. Slightly outside the centre but the taxi ride is only about $3 or like 30 cents for the bus.

Unfortunately this hostel wasn’t what we hoped it would be. From the pictures it looks great but we couldn’t stay there. It was approaching winter and the owner said we were the last booking he was taking. The room was freezing and we didn’t trust the radiator to keep us warm in -24 degrees at night. The bathroom was dirty and falling apart. We didn’t stay the night and booked another hostel. Very sad as it looked like such a great find.

Worst hostel ever. Far away from the city, no lock or handle on the door, we didnt even meet the owners cuz they never picked us up or helped us check in. The house is dirty, moldy, broken and looks like an abbandonded building. The dorm we booked didnt even exist. Needless to say, we didnt stay long. Don’t stay here!!!!
