Property Description

100 meters from Kalvin square, in the heart of downtown Budapest, is the Golden Eagle Hostel. It is a small hostel in a large apartment in a historical building that once belonged to Countess Katalina Andrassy, who received it as a wedding present from her loving husband Count Mihaly Karolyi. She lost her property when the communist took over the power in Hungary and confiscated it. Besides its interesting past, our location is simply amazing: just 5 minutes walk to the Danube river (next to the Szabadsag or Liberty bridge), with the Gellert hill in front of it, and besides the central market (one of the most visited landmarks of Budapest), the pedestrian Street Vaci utca, we accommodate the bookings for the private rooms (singles, twins and doubles). The area has plenty of restaurants, 24-hour supermarkets, , bars, discos, coffee houses, etc. In a Word, you Will be in the epicenter of the tourist, gastronomic and cultural life of the city.

We loved our stay at the golden eagle hostel. We had a private double room which was huge and also looked over the river! The room had a fan which was a nice bonus as a lot of hostels do not and it was hot. We also really appreciated that we could use the washing machine free of charge. Thank you for our stay!

Incredible view to the Danube, the old heart of BUdapest. Excellent location. Beautiful, historical building. The hostel is spacious, simple and confortable furniture. I had a wonderful time there and can only recommend it. Julianna

Staff were very friendly and were fully committed to helping us with whatever we needed! The bathroom and kitchen could be kept more tidy however. Overall we enjoyed our stay and extended our time there. We stayed in the private rooms which is a separate building 10 mins walk from reception, but another lovely guy is there to help all round the clock if needed.

Great location and the manager was super nice. Hygiene can be improved, the furniture was covered with dust and the toilets, sink and shower were considerably dirty.

I stayed in a private room, which was large and good value. The only real complaint would be the lack of soundproofing. Everything could be heard

We had an unusual stay because we were moved from hostel to private rooms. We were pleased to be in a private room for the same price and the view of Liberty Bridge was stunning. Our bedroom was quite clean and we had a balcony. However, the kitchen was indisputably dirty and the showers could have been cleaner but we’re bearable. I enjoyed my stay but I wouldn’t pay full price for the private room and, having briefly seen the hostel, wouldn’t stay there again either. The view saved it.

My friend and I booked a room for two persons, when we arrived the receptionist said the reservation is only for one person, we told him that we did a reservation for two person and we showed him a prove but he didn't want to understand and showed us his system which says one room one person but we were sure we putted both our names in the reservation, so guess what he did, he saw a price of a couple in the hostel they were reserving and he said you have to pay same. I don't recommend him.

It was very dirty. I am sure they did not cleaned that place for more than a month. The staff was never there. The rooms are good but all the rest of the facility was very bad. The beds were bad quality. I wouldn't stay there again.

The place surely is not a registered hostel. It looks like someone gave one of their flats to make some money then added few beds. There is only ONE person to “help”, be receptionist, clean, etc. The cleaning doesn’t exist. The toilets (there is only ONE shower for the entire place and one toilet separatefrom the shower) are never cleaned and smell like pee. Really really dirty place. Also, they say there is a kitchen which there is, but NO utensils and full of ants. I DON’T RECCOMEND IT!!!!!!!!
