Property Description

Situated perfectly on a quiet canal side street in the city centre The Golden Stork is Den Haag’s newest and cosiest hostel.

We offer 5 dorm rooms of different sizes and themes; The Green House, The Beach Hut, The Locker Room, The 070 (Netherlands joke, ask our staff about it) and Bierkade - a homage to our beautiful canal street. All beds have their own light and wall socket, individual storage section and luggage space, fresh linen is provided, towels and a delicious continental breakfast will only cost you a small fee.

We are within SUPER easy walking distance of all major attractions; the Houses of Parliament, Vredespaleis, Kings Palace, Mauritshuis, Escher Museum and others. We are just down the road from the shopping district, both the main high street and cute back streets with boutique stores. The hostel is practically inside Chinatown, a great place to head out for dinner and central to both city squares, Grote Markt and Plein, brimming with cafes, terrace bars and live music venues.
Between 5-10 minute walk from both train stations and only 10 minutes by tram (the Bierkade stop is right outside the hostel door) to sandy Scheveningen beach.
Golden Stork organizes a games night in the hostel every Wednesday with games such as Monopoly, Jenga, Uno and Exploding Kittens. Guests can enjoy a Dutch Dinner every Friday for only 5 euros. We also run a Golden Stork exclusive and city walking tour every Saturday so you have the chance to explore the city with a local. Last but not least we organize regularly jam sessions in our bar, check our calendar for most up to date events.

In partnership with local business we strive to bring you the best Den Haag has to offer from Roast Factory coffee - roasted right here, to Kompaan and Eiber craft beers- brewed right here and cakes and pies made on our street by a community project bakery. Not only this but guests get exclusive discounts with a fresh, organic restaurant next door and on canal tours leaving from directly outside our front door.

See you soon in our little Den Haag home away from home. View House Rules

    Superb

Loved my stay! My only complaint would be the same one I saw many others had when I was deciding to stay here: the lack of windows in the bedrooms. I thought I would be fine, then accidentally slept until noon because night and day look the same! The other women in my room did the same. But for what I paid, I can't complain too much! And, despite that, the hostel was very nice. The showers and beds were kept clean, the staff was extremely friendly, the coffee was good. Would stay here again!

Excellent hostel! The whole process from booking to checking out was easy. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and after hours access to the building was very easy to navigate. I felt safe the whole time and really enjoyed the area as well, some great bars along the canal.

The location of the hostel is quite convenient, and its facilities are basic. Good for a short stay when you are in Den Haag.

My room didnt have a window and the small portable air conditioning on the floor almost didnt make any difference. When traveling on summer this is not something you want to worry about. Toilets and shower room is shared with both genders, important to know in case you mind.

The location was great and the front room was very cosy and well-decorated. That being said, the rooms were very stuffy and humid (due to the lack of aeration and windows). The walls were also extremely thin so we could hear every person walking by at all hours of the night. It was decent for a one night stay but could have been slightly uncomfortable to stay in for longer.

Con: Rooms were very small and packed with bunks. They also had no windows or natural light. The door to the room was constantly open. The staff were friendly however they could have been more accommodating. Pros: the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. There’s a nice little cafe out the front.

First the positive points: the hostel is clean and the location is really really good!! Now negative: the rooms are extremely small and there are no windows (you feel like sleeping in a bunker)... sadly the shared space is only open from 8am - 11pm so its not possible to have a beer in the evening in the common room (of course not in the small sleeping rooms)! There is no kitchen, hence no opportunity to cook your own food and Den Haag is not the cheapest city to eat outside :(

Pretty dismal place. The lack of Windows is pretty depressing so you end up spending minimal time in the rooms. They smell damp and so cramped you feel you're sleeping in a broom closet... Couldn't cook anything there but nice receptionist let me use cafe facilities to reheat food.
