Indy Hostel was a perfect waypoint in a long roadtrip, and I can imagine it also being a pleasant place to settle in for a longer stay. I actually didn't meet any staff during my stay - I was sent self check-in instructions before arrival which made for a hassle-free late night arrival. The hostel is in a large historic house in a quiet neighborhood just a few minutes off the highway; Foundation Coffee nearby was delicious. Cozy, clean, super comfy and large beds - what's not to love!

Clean, quiet and chill hostel. I was emailed info on how to get in and stay. I didn’t actually see any staff so I had to find a towel myself - which are in the basement. Location was great - walking distance from plenty of places to eat and drink.

Indy Hostel is the only hostel in Indianapolis. It has been around since 2003. Management recently changed to Kevin and Mandy (and Sam, their impressionable dog). You can feel that Kevin and Mandy are still learning how to best run the hostel. They are super nice folks and easy to talk to. I found the common areas very clean and comfortable. It wasn't too busy when I was staying there, so I enjoyed the time I had socializing with other guests and also spending time alone. Give this place a try!

Did not see any hostel staff during my 1 night stay, luckily there were some nice longterm guests that could tell how stuff is working. Thanks to these persons the place had a home-like feel. Indy hostel had good common areas so you could socialize with the other guests. Slept very well in my bed in the basement. Seems like some ongoing renovations in basement with paint buckets behind curtains etc. Parking felt a bit confusing. Kitchen run out of paper towels.

A nice place, but in the middle of nowhere!! You need a vehicle to go anywhere at this location. There is a bus stop near by but the service is VERY SKETCHY! As I found out the hard way... Safe travels everyone!

This was my second hostel ever staying in and it lived up to its ratings. The atmosphere was very homey. I didn’t see any staff. However, the self check-in instructions made everything very easy.

Didn’t actually stay. Upon arrival was taken to the private room which was in a separate building basement. The smell of mildew was immediate and thick. I didn’t expect this and it wouldn’t work for our family. This room should be clearly listed as a separate basement with an old mildew smell. Can’t imagine many would actually sleep there once arriving to check in. Kevin and all phone and email personnel were great. He reversed the charges and apologized.

We arrived in the evening and left the following afternoon. We did not see a staff member during the entirety of our stay. There was nobody to check-in or check-out with. The only reason we could get in was because the front door was cracked open. Everything was nice and clean, but what if something happened to a guest? There would be no staff members to address it.

If they put in a bit of effort, it would drastically improve. The 6 room is just part of a 12 bedroom room just slightly sectioned off into 2 parts- misleading. The bathroom door in that room often locks from the inside and you have to go upstairs through the kitchen if you need to use the bathroom. Simple fix: remove the lock on the doorknob and add a sliding lock on the door. Beds weren’t cleaned for days after people left. Staff barely around. No free breakfast - lied there. Dead Atmosohere.
