Helpful, friendly staff, convenient location. Due for refurbishment and sadly not to be re-opened as a hostel.

The location is unbelievably central, just next to old steine gardens and is extremely secure with a code to get into the hostel area of the pub at night, another code for your rooms and ability to get a locker for your valuables. The staff are friendly and help you sort stuff out quickly. The rooms are moderately clean as are the toilets but the showers are rancid. They do clean up every day but it's a tiny space to it gets really gross.

The room smelt horrible and didn’t seem clean at all. Me and my two friends decided to sleep in our rental car.

My window in a private room did not lock and on arrival was held open with a piece of wood. There was roof access between the windows outside and i did not feel safe sleeping there or leaving my stuff. Staff kindly stored my valuables but the only solution that could be found was to find me another bit of wood to jam my window with at night. The hostel itself was all a bit grim, old, run down and manky. It was cheap ish but for £69 a night i expected better.

Wow this is the WORST HOSTEL. I stayed one night. There is no social area, the beds are near falling apart (3 bunks high) thought they would actually break, the whole place stinks and the vibes are just seedy. No kitchen. I came back after a night out and was told I had to change beds and share a single bed with my friend because someone else didn’t have a bed to sleep in...at 4am. I was woken up by patrons (think it was staff) smoking copious amounts of weed IN THE BEDROOM (no windows open).

I had never smoked crack cocaine before... until staying at the Kings Arms Hostel, where I smoked it secondhand thanks to my inconsiderate roommates, who smoked it in their bed all night long. The facilities were seriously dirty, with toilet roll not even in the dispenser so that it was left on the side to soak up moisture. The dorm room was filthy, with old food packages everywhere and an overflowing bin. I wouldn’t be surprised if my roommates and I shared the dirm with rodents.

The hostel staff do not consider the guests. The staff smoke in the rooms heavily and it is well known passive smoking is very dangerous. It is better the staff to respect the guests and follow the stipulated regulations and rules.

Receptionist guy/bar man was very rude. My friend didn’t have ID and he barely let me finish my sentence when I was trying to explain that it said nothing about needing an ID. He then proceeded to speak over me being very argumentative about the fact it was stated on the website. I can’t find this anywhere. Very unhelpful and didn’t seem to care we may have had nowhere to stay because of this. P.s. we went to home Brighton hostel which is 10 x nicer, same price and friendly staff.
