    Superb

I enjoyed the Lionfish so much that I checked back in 3 times. The location is only 100 metres from the bus stop. It’s one of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever been to, and the staff and volunteers are kind and patient. I accidentally overpaid and they made sure I got my money back. The garden area is relaxing and they have a really fun bar and a nice kitchen with lots of comfortable places to chill out in. The Tuyo Cafe is so convenient and the food and coffee there is delicious!

I would actually rate it a 6.5 I arrive at 10 am, and received my room until 2:30pm to find out it was also undone, yes...dirty. The staff was really nice but unapologetic of the fact that they said yes to a guest to have a late checkout when the room was already booked for me, and To give it dirty after the wait. They were kind enough to keep my things in the reception, but when I picked them up the guy did such a good job keeping my computer safe, no one could find it until late night :-/

    Good

One of the least clean hostels I have stayed in, I was lucky enough to be in a 4 bed dorm on my own but the floors hadn’t been swept in god knows how long and not had the fan so you could see the dust collected on the top two bunks. The bathrooms are all off the main corridor and one of them had been absolutely soaked, toilet paper included and wasn’t cleaned the whole 24 hours I was there. Staff were lovely and it’s fine and basic, could just use a good clean.

Good localisation and that's all. I stayed there for one night as my previous hostel was full. Very loud music from ten bar next door until very late, smaller dorms are claustrophobic and stuffy. Not very clean either. There are way better places in Puerto Viejo for this price. The staff is helpful though, I appreciate that the let me change the dorm for a bigger one.

We wouldn’t recommend staying. The hostel is dirty & doesn’t have enough toilets/showers for the amount of people staying.People ‘clean’ but the kitchen is still filthy with dirty dishes (don’t touch the dish cloths!).Our room wasn’t cleaned in 5 days. The rooms are stuffy & the fan in the room was caked in dust (gag)! When we took the pillow case off,the pillow was black! So unhygienic.WiFi is slow/never works. There is a huge table for eating.I spilt some water, wiped it up & the cloth was black.

One of the worst run, and dirtiest hostels I've ever stayed at. They rely exclusively on 'volunteers' to clean the place. My mom wasn't cleaned AT ALL the 5 days I was there. There was an inch of dust on the un/moped or swept floors. The trash can was full of the same garbage on the day I left that was there the day I checked in. The room was like an oven and the 2 ceiling fans were useless. The showers were disgusting with little hot water. Whom ever owns this place has their head up their as

There was nothing good! Extremely dirty room and the restrooms. The guy at the counter could not find our reservation and took sometime to figure out which room was assigned to us. After a long time, he took us to a dirty room and when we asked if we can move to a different room he just said, 'either take it or leave'. They say there's free parking, but note that it's street parking! It's very expensive and they provide almost zero amenities (only linens). Very unhappy with the experience!

WARNING!!! RATS!!! My girlfriend and I have stayed in many hostels across Asia and Central America. Never have we felt the absolute need to warn fellow travellers of a place. We stayed in the 10 bedroom dorm, which had a mesh ceiling and above us.... RATS! Running around you can see them clearly through the mesh, we got no sleep and demanded to be checked out in the morning. This hostel is almost entirely volunteers and while they may be nice. The standard for cleanliness here is un-acceptable.
