Property Description

We have the best location in the city if you want to know, feel and immerse yourself in the Medina.

We have an incredible rooftop hangout with stunning 360 views of the old city and the great mosque.

Our staff is partly composed of artists and musicians and every night we organize outings, either to go to see an exhibition, to have a drink while listening to live music, or to go and eat tapas.

We will also introduce you to Tangier through our personal preferences for eating, drinking and relaxing.

The name Melting Pot refers directly to Tangier which, since the nineteenth century, has become the most cosmopolitan city in Morocco. Europeans of all horizons settled there for business or for its impertinence and its cultural freedom. Today there are still old Irish pubs, bakeries, streets, cafes and theaters that bear witness to this era. Subsequently, from the beginning of the 1920s, Tangier acquired the status of an international city. Painters (Matisse, Delacroix, Sorolla, etc.) but also writers (especially the Americans of the Beat Generation) lived here, marveled by the blue of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, the white buildings, the breeze of the bay, the buzz of cafes and the narrow paths of the Medina.

The Melting Pot hostel is also a bit like that: people coming from all over the world who often come back and decide to stay and settle in Tangier …
The hostel:

•In a typically Moroccan bicentennial house you will have at your disposal:
•A nice reception, with someone around 24 hrs a day to help you out.
•Free computers, free wi-fi and art from around the world everywhere.
•A fantastic kitchen, with great utensils, lots of cooking space and food storage.
•A laidback rooftop where we get together for family meals, art nights and live music!
•Clean rooms with free lockers, free padlocks and bed linen.

Activities:

•Amazing free walking tours with young, passionate, English/French/Spanish speaking guides who seriously know their stuff.
•We can help you to see the best of what our city offers, eat the best tapas, and see the sights other tourists don’t know about
•Every night there is something going on at the hostel: dinners, live music shows on the roof, nights out to the most underground bars in the city.

This is not a corporate chain hostel. We are an intimate, down-to-earth group of mates who love travelling and socialising. Come be a part of it! View House Rules

Hostel has a delicious family dinner every night (costs €5) and free breakfast. Though there are no other formal events, the rooftop common area is a great way to meet people and you can literally see Spain from there. Great staff and nice accommodations. Lockers are pretty small.

This is a brilliant hostel and I can hardly rate it highly enough. The staff are extremely helpful and good fun (Sofian etc.) and the food prepared for family dinner's by the hostel chef (Renault - I hope that's how you spell it) is so good! The rooftop terrace is an amazing spot for meeting new people and taking in great views of Tangier as well. You will not regret staying here. Thanks!

Melting Pot was amazing! Spent 10 days in Morocco and this was the best hostel I stayed at! The community was great, the people that worked there were awesome and felt like some of my long lost brothers. Spent the night on the rooftop singing songs to the sound of a guitar. And, if you are making the transfer to Europe from the port or vice versa, it is an easy/safe walk to and from the port! Thanks fellas! -Cody

Awesome group, puts together a good social experience at a well-located hostel in the old town. Great deal and good advice for how to get around and explore.

Awesome social vibe. Great communal dinners, delicious and basically all you can eat. Stunning views from the rooftop terrace. Top marks for cleanliness. Showers are hand-held as there is no rail to fix the shower-head, which was odd.

The hostel was located in the medina and a great location to explore the city. The rooftop terrace had beautiful views over the city! Our room was on the ground level, next to the check-in desk and front door. There wasn't a way to lock the room so anyone could wander in at any time (and a few people did either to pick up bags they had left in the room or use the outlets). The rooms on the other levels were more private and quieter, preferable to the room on ground level. Staff was very nice!!!

The hostel is cute, the staff is great and it was a fun stay- but we had bedbugs in our room!! This hostel needs to address their bedbug problem!

Our stay here was pretty average. The fan in the room didn’t work, and wasn’t “fixed tomorrow” as promised. The rooms didn’t lock and the level of security for belongings depended solely on a small box safe. Breakfast was nothing special: just bread and honey / marmalade and tea. Location was hard to find but close to the medina and Kasbah although this means you get a lot of harassment as you walk around. One of us had the family dinner and it wasn’t anywhere near as good as meals elsewhere
