The Moutaineer is reasonably priced for its location and has a very friendly inviting atmosphere. For a single person or small group this is a great place to make a home base for a trip to summit county.

Wonderful stay! Super nice and mellow lodge in a good location between all the big CO resorts. Great common areas, plenty of storage, complimentary breakfast, free linens/towel, and a nice general atmosphere made for a good stay for a couple of days. Hostel is pretty close to everything in Silverthorne. Had a car so not sure what the bus situation was to go to/from the resorts but i'm sure there is something from town. Overall, highly recommend if you're okay not being right on the mountain!

We spent two nights at the Mountaineer in mid-October. We stayed in the Vail room, with a king bed and private bathroom. It was a great experience. Chris was a great host, and the room was clean, comfy, and quiet. We would definitely stay here again!

Great hostel centrally located in Silverthorne. Quality beds, clean rooms and a friendly ski lodge atmosphere. You can easily make yourself feel at home. Chris and his dog Bodie are welcoming hosts.

This hostel I feel would have been really awesome when it was busy, I was pretty much the only person there (it was out of snow season). The host was awesome, the bed was super comfortable, the lodging was warm and welcoming. Could roughly walk to a few bars and parking was great. Awesome views from the second story lounge area. Def stay here again if heading through for snow season.

I've stayed here 3 times now. A good value, easy to get to and a nice property. The hot tub as nice. The people staying there are interesting. if you want to cook though, silverware and plates are hard to find.

    Very Good

Heads up, as of this review, the hot tub advertised on website has been broken for weeks. I was very disappointed to learn this upon my arrival. Chris, the owner, was nice about it, and he let my friend and I cancel our reservation early so we could stay somewhere else. Overall, this is a nice hostel. Great location for skiing, nice fireplaces, good breakfast, clean, comfy beds. However, if you want to soak in a hot tub after a day on the slopes, book elsewhere.
