Loved this hostel. Excellent in all areas. Only criticism is that the kitchen is quite small for the amount of people there. Staff great and free use of push bikes 😃

Lovely location in a quieter part of town, interesting old building, friendly staff, clean everything, decent free breakfast. All around a pretty solid hostel! The only downside is that you have to pay for wifi.

This is one of the better hospitals I’ve stayed in around Australia or overseas. Really nice spacious old building with a lot of style. Nice big communal room at the front .. kitchen was a bit smaller but had everything I needed. Everything was very clean and showers were not cramped .. very helpful and friendly staff. There was this insanely good Italian guitarist who made the stay special .. along with many other awesome people

I loved this hostel, I actually extended my stay I enjoyed it so much. The staff are great, so friendly and eager to help. The building itself was amazing and everything was really clean. The vibe there was more than just a place to sleep. Even the long term guests seemed to care enough to clean up after themselves (which is not often the case at a hostel). One detail that might be good to know ahead of time is that you do have to pay for Wi-Fi at this hostel (approx. $5/day), it's not free.

Overall great hostel with great facilities and a good location outside but close to the CBD. Breakfasts were great including pancakes on Sunday’s! Only issue was I was in a room with several long term residents whose stuff was everywhere and there was junk in the bathroom which appeared to have been left and never cleaned up!

Beautiful building and public areas but the dorm itself was a tad shabby. No free wifi is a bit of a bummer.

This hostel is far too expensive for what it is. I had a double room with shared bathroom and it was very basic. Money would be better spent on a hotel for the same price where you don't have to share a bathroom or be told to get out the shower by the cleaner because a bath mat needed changing. There were also a couple of occasions where staff members walked into our room late morning without even knocking. Overall, feel ripped off because of the price.

The Nunnery says

I think what makes us extra special is the extras we offer our guests. We've got free breakfast every morning plus free events all week like movie night on Tuesdays, homemade soup on Wednesdays, pub crawls on Thursdays and wine and nibbles or BBQ on Fridays.
We really aim to offer a unique experience; after all, our hostel was built in 1888 and for 60 years used to be an actual nunnery! We take pride in helping our guests enjoy the very best Melbourne has to offer.
The nearest main attractions are the Melbourne Museum and Melbourne Exhibition centre; personally, I recommend guests check out the bars, cafes and restaurants around nearby Brunswick Street and Smith Street. Jacqui, Assistant Manager
