“Amazing, amazing, amazing! One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. I met a ton of other backpackers and the staff was just amazing. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.”

“This is by far one of the best hostels based on the vibe alone. The staff are crazy chill, they organize daily trips most of the week which is great for seeing Hobart affordably and to meet people! The front lounge is sick and good for a drink. They even helped me out with some camping equipment. Definitely one of my favourite hostels.”

“My partner and I couldn't have been happier with this hostel. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff make you feel instantly welcome and there's all sorts of groups of people here to meet. The size of the common area is great, there's plenty of space for everyone”

The pickled frog is awesome. From the time you walk in, you are looked after. We received a great introduction on Tassie when we checked in and staff were always happy to help us with any questions. We had a ball playing beer pong, pool and drinking in the communal space and bar. Rooms are great and bedding is super warm. They offer free tours as well which are sick!! Can’t recommend enough. Really enjoyed our stay. Cheers from the Boys from The Aviary.

I loved my stay at Pickled Frog! It was my first ever hostel experience and it was so enjoyable. The free shuttle rides and tours were excellent and saved us a lot of money. I would definitely stay again !!

The BEST place to stay!! Such a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff is great, and my friends and I were so grateful for the shuttles to MONA / Mt. Wellington and the Tuesday day trip the hostel offered FOR FREE!! Really good cider/ beer downstairs, and a warm atmosphere to chill by the fire, play games, or chat with other guests. 12/10 recommend.

The rickety bed didn't bother me at all! Lol! I didn't come to Hobart and stay in a hostel to have a peaceful sleep (I get that all the time at home). The Pickled Frog is absolutely fantastic, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff. It's a great place to stay for single travelers as you get to meet fellow travelers at the lounge and bar downstairs. Sadly I was only there for one night, but I would definitely come back.

I had a great stay at the Pickled Frog! It’s probably the coziest hostel I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is very nice and it has more ammenities than you could possibly ask for. What I liked most were the free tours to Mount Wellington, MONA and various other places. (Make sure to sign up early. They’re very popular ;)) The only thing I would criticise is that it might be hard for you to sleep at night as the walls are very thin and it sometimes can get loud in the common areas.

Great location just a five to ten minute walk to the very centre of Hobart (depending on the lights). The upstairs dorms (i.e. not the huge mixed dorms) are definitely the way to go if you can afford it and, if you’re planning to take one of the free buses or trips, book as soon as you can because they fill up fast.

Pretty average accomodation and facilities however the free tours/cheap bar/homey atmosphere at this hostel makes it really easy to meet other solo travelers and have fun. Would highly recommend staying here if you are traveling on your own and want to meet people.

    Very Good

    26 Apr 2019
It's a fun, laid back hostel. The free tours were great! I wish they would tell us ahead of time what the Adventure day is, I had to book a Port Arthur tour to make sure I got to see everything, and then that's where we ended up going, so it makes it a little hard to plan. Also the bus was really crammed, but it is a free hostel tour. The internet is terribly slow and takes forever to connect, it is NOT FAST at all like they advertise. Showers don't have any ventilation and are very basic.

The hostel good including the staff they are super cool. However, there were possibly two charging points in a 8 bed share and were already taken !!! Also the kitchen sinks stank like crazyyyy so cooking was out of question.
