    Superb

I had an incredibly warm welcome from Vaughan and team, settling me in straightaway. The hostel is very well located near the Rottnest ferry and great bars & restaurants. The main thing I really liked about the hostel was the vibe and layout, which encouraged you to meet lots of fellow travelers without being a party hostel.

    Fabulous

Stayed for several nights at Pirates Backpackers and I really enjoyed it. The hostel is very lively with people drinking and hanging out every night and others watching movies. You can do your thing whatever that is. A lot of people staying for longer times. Kitchen small but usable. Location is amazing! The hostel is not top renovated and shining clean, but it works and makes it feel like home. I will definitely stay here again.

Staff was great and very nice location. But way to many rooms for the bathrooms that available and some are female only.

    Fabulous

Staff were lovely, and it's right off the main street. Rooms are small but clean. Kitchen is super small and gets crowded. Common spaces are also small, and outdoor dining area is also smoking area, which I wasn't keen on. Being small it has a nice vibe, everyone seems to known everyone else. Owner is super nice and friendly and introduced me to a bunch of the other guests when I arrived. Facilities are old and a bit beat up but clean. Nice little hostel to chill out in.

    Fabulous

I had a great time at Pirates, and stayed here for about 3 weeks. There a couple things to be said about Pirates. There is no A/C, the WiFi doesn't work, bedbugs were an issue for a week, and the foam mattresses are not incredibly comfortable. But the real reason you'd stay in Pirates, is for the location, and the people. Nearly every night I was here, I was down in the courtyard, drinking with the friends I had made, playing cards and laughing lots. It's also a short walk to Bathers Beach.

We really enjoyed our stay here because of the location and everyone was super lovely! However I think the downstairs bathroom is in need of a refurbishment and the kitchen is quite small for the amount of people using it. ✌🏻

    Good

My flight was delayed and I arrived at 11pm but this was no problem, the night manager was waiting for me to arrive. The atmosphere was good and there were always people around to socialise with but this was one of the only good things about the hostel. The facilities really are very old and well worn. There is no a/c and unfortunately I arrived here with a fever and after two days I checked out early as I couldn’t stand the heat any longer. There were also cockroaches in the kitchen.

Rude staff, manager asks his staff to make fake bookings on website and then make fake 5 star reviews. Unethical and misleading to future travellers. Ignore the positive reviews.

Disappointing. Much is mentioned regarding the friendliness of the staff however I received a less than friendly welcome from woman on reception when I checked in. Facilities are shabby & run down. In unisex bathroom only 1 of 3 shower doors actually close & lock properly. The bunk mattresses are thin foam & make for a very uncomfortable sleep, dorm had no fan or ceiling fan during 35 degree weather. No wifi if you dorm room is not in main house. No follow up from staff when I checked out early.

Really not what I was expecting, the whole place had an unfriendly vibe, with peeling paint, dirty showers and a strong smell of peoples feet and sweat throughout the whole building. The yard (which I guess was meant to be the chill out zone) was full of trash and the hostel just seemed completely un-cared for. We had to wait outside for half an hour to check in because the woman at reception had disappeared. Ive roughed it in cheap hostels all over the world, but this place just felt unpleasant
