From Sydney Airport you can get the N20 bus to Redfern Station in 36 minutes, then walk eight minutes to the hostel. The Central Station is a ten-minute stroll away and trains take you to Sydney Harbour or the beach (don't forget your sun cream!).

Lovely clean place, great location! Only thing is that we didn't have a proper bedroom, it was just a partition and curtain, also would have been nice to be able to use the cooker! but overall great stay and good value for money :)

I have stayed at The Village many times over the last few years, it is a fine place to stay in the city. However this time, I learned as I was travelling to Sydney, that reception is now only manned 3hrs a day. I recieved an email with a keycode to get in the front door and a keycode to open the lockbox to get my card key. Thats fine, but the card key didn't work and there was nobody at reception to fix it. I left and went somewhere else because i couldn't get into my room.

    Very Good

Hostel is in a great location close to Central Station so easy to get to the city. The vibe is chilled and not too busy. Only issue is with the kitchen it needs a better fridge with more shelves as everyones bags are piled on top of each other and people tend to leave a terrible mess in the sinks which doesn't get cleaned until night. The stall are all friendly especially the Italian guy in reception Tanos I had an issue with my booking he was very helpful in sorting it for me! He is great :D

Overall the hostel was bang average. You get what you pay for with this one. The rooms are cleaned daily and have great air con. Huge storage space under the bed that locks, which is great. Kitchen is a car crash. Constantly filthy and never a pan to use. This is down to the guests but there needs to be a policy in place to improve this. The location isn’t great. You have to cross a park to get to central. Isn’t too much of an inconvenience. If you want a social hostel, this isn’t the one

First hostel I have ever stayed one night and then left. Location is quite good and the TV room was nice but that is about it in my opinion. Cockroaches in my room and the kitchen. I was in bed and the largest cockroach I've ever seen flew across the room. The wifi bandwidth is heavily strangled to the point that YouTube goes down to 240p. Staff were polite but couldn't get hold of management to get advice or organise a refund of my remaining days. Still waiting for a response from a manager.

I can rough it pretty easily. Never the less this hostel unexpectedly is in my top 3 for WORST Hostel and I’ve stayed at a lot! The bathroom was so wet and dirty, I avoided going to the toilet and left with out even showering. The bed was hard and sharp with springs, the pillow might aswell have been a sheet folded up hard and flat. PLUS I SLEPT WITH THE AIRCON VENTS literally 20cm from my face! The room was smelly, damp and with no 24 hour reception yelling until 3am is ok. 1 hours sleep....
