Property Description

Located close to the Metro and the local party area of “LA 70”, The Wandering Paisa offers the most authentic cultural experience in Medellin. We seek to immerse travelers in the local Paisa culture while providing them with a safe and comfortable place to stay with local activities and events.

Weekly Activities:
- Free Salsa Classes
- Language Exchange (meet locals!)
- Karaoke Night
- Stand Up Comedy
- Open Mic

We are located in the upscale neighborhood of Laureles, a block from the local hotspots of La Setenta and La 33, where prices are affordable, the locals are plenty and the bar/club scene is vibrant. We also are less than 5 minutes walking from the Metro system, which can bring you virtually anywhere in the city.

Our knowledgeable and bilingual staff will be more than happy to provide you with any information on tourist activities in Medellin and the surrounding areas as well as make bookings for tourist activities and airport pickups.

Decorated with a bohemian theme that pays tribute to South American and Colombian culture, our hostel boasts some of the best services in town. With 4 dorms (no larger than 8 beds each) and 3 privates, every room in our hostel has its own unique country theme, each hand painted by local art students.

In our rooms, we have the best bunks in Medellin, designed with privacy dividers, orthopedic mattresses, and a locker for storage under the bed. Most importantly, these beds are not the kind that squeak or move when you climb up, allowing you to sleep comfortably in peace and quiet. We also have six fully remodeled bathrooms, with 24-hour hot water and brand-new computer workstations.

Inside the hostel, travelers can relax and play Nintendo Wii on our 42-inch plasma screen T.V. equipped with cable television and a large selection of DVDs. For stunning views of the surrounding mountains, travelers can climb to the top of our castle-like terrace located on the roof of the building. If you are feeling social, you can kick it in our 'Paisa Bar' which serves both nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

Occasionally, local musicians have been known to play live music on our sundeck/stage, while travelers chill out on hammocks and listen to the grooves on the nearby balcony. We also have a huge kitchen, speedy laundry service, high-speed Internet access and free wifi. View House Rules

Awesome hostel, the staff was super helpful when I was trying to find a good place to take a local for good beers! Clean and relatively quiet for a hostel! Definitely would recommend!

The beds are comfy, stayed in a 6 bed dorm which was somewhat cramped and limited space to store your backpack and things. No air conditioning but there was a fan in the room. The water pressure in the shower was low and struggled to find warm water but the hot weather was due for a cold shower. No breakfast but in a good location to search for a nice cafe or restaurant. Great kitchen, sometimes not clean due to guests not taking care but super friendly and helpful staff.

I had a blast at this hostel . I extended my stay there from 3 to 7 days. Great location too. The only annoying part was that Mexican bartender who was volunteering there. He was super annoying and arrogant. The staff was quite friendly . Totally recommended !!

A great alternative to staying in Poblado. Staff is freindly, they have salsa clases, pub crawls and a language exchange to meet locals. Stayed here a few times over the last 10 years when am in medellin. Always meet some nice solo travelers and feel at home here. Near la 70, localbars, salsa bars and options to eat/shop, also a close walk to laureles area and metro estadio. Highly recommended.

Stayed during the middle of the week so it was pretty dead. I was able to sleep well, the location was excellent (walking distance to La 70, great for bars and street food). The front door is locked and you have to be buzzed in which was great for security. Most of the staff proficiently spoke English, but that shouldn't be expected if you're traveling to a Spanish speaking country (the world does not revolve around English speaking Americans, y'all). Great price/will stay again.

Quite an old hostel which felt it. Only had three bathrooms for everyone. Staff weren’t overly friendly and sat chatting with friends. Kitchen was clean though and good hammocks to chill in. Near supermarket and close to metro. Nothing special. Four bed dorm which was above bar wasn’t ideal - only window led onto the bar so was very noisy.

I am shocked that this hostel is rated so highly. It is in a great location and has a great social atmosphere with organized events. HOWEVER, it is very dirty and cramped. The 8 bed dorm is tiny and hot and has no ventilation so it gets smelly. There also isn’t any room for people’s backpacks. I saw several cockroaches during my 1 night stay and had to ask staff to replace toilet paper in the bathrooms several times. Needless to say, this was very disappointing.
