This place was quite phenomenal, felt like a real luxury hostel! Nice beds, ice cold a/c (only on at night), great breakfast, perfect location, and they have daily activities to keep you having fun in sleepy Bacalar. It is literally hard to leave the place, it's cool to just hang out on the deck all day! True lake living like back home in Canada. Only thing is when it is fully booked, it can get sort of crowded in the common areas and especially at breakfast.

Great hostel on the lake. Beautiful view. Kept super clean all day. Breakfast was good (no hot food, however nice selection of fruits, bread, cereal, fresh coffee and juice). Good sized lockers. Booked sunrise SUP via hostel-fab experience.

This is an amazing hostel. The breakfast had a lot of fruit, cereals, roasts and jam. We brought our own instant oatmeal to accompany it. The boat tour was great. Easy to sleep, not much partying. People just kind of chill and hang out until about 12 am. Great place all around! Also right next to an amazing vegan restaurant called Mango y Chile...yum!

Stayed there for a single night, rooms were great, as was the chilling areas and lakeshore bar. This hostel offers an amazing view of the lake specially at sunrise. Loved the breakfast, but you have to wash your own dishes. Only downside was this member of the staff at the reception who answered in a rude manner “There’s nothing to do in bacalar” when i asked him for activities.

This is probably the best hostel in Bacalar, the activities there are quite solid, the atmosphere is great as well. It is usually booked out every night. Only con is that the staff (mainly front desk staff) is pretty bad. The guy who checked me in was really rude and slow (took 5+ minutes to check in each person). He also seem really disinterested in talking to people. I often had to wait at the door for 5+ minutes for him to buzz me in.

The Yak house was located in such a great position and had every facility you could think of! My only criticisms is that they clean the floors with heavy materials every hour or 2 which was hard on my asthma (may not be a problem for others!) and the other is that one of the staff members at reception was really rude and somewhat lazy - the only time i saw him smile or engage for more that one word was with the other staff!

    Very Good

    21 Mar 2019
Is a lovely hostel, very clean and well built. However, I found it had a slightly odd vibe and atmosphere with music playing all day and till late at night but not all that much socialising happening with staff being a tad cliquey. This made it neither a chill out place or a more social hostel for solo travellers to meet but an awkward in between...

    Very Good

Cleanliness top notch. Staff is not the friendliness but alright. I stayed at the yak in playa del carmen and it was a total different experience. There are not enough activities to bring the people together so everyone seems to mind there own business. 1 night is more then enough. Can recommend the sunrise stand up paddle board tour. Sometimes the music was really good and sometimes too sleepy.
