The views at this place are absolutely stunning! You just can’t beat it. You literally cannot be closer to the lagoon than this hostel. And the staff are so friendly and helpful. I had a slight problem with my room and Javier did everything in his power to correct it and he did. Thank you Javier and Yak!

One of my favorite places so far. The Argentinian girl at the bar was so sweet, the front desk helped me with my many questions about the lockers, and I had an amazing two days here getting to know travelers. Wish I could have stayed longer!

It's a beautiful location, but it is not cheap. Best for a couple of days. Breakfast is simply cornflakes and fruit

I can say that I had one of the best experiences in my life as a solo traveler. The sunset kayak is an absolute MUST if you stay here. I met so many awesome people from all around the world, all super friendly. However, the guys from the front desk were not the most friendly nor helpful. I even felt uncomfortable asking questions to them. The rest of the staff were great specially the girls from the bar and the tours. The AC didn’t work from a specified time and at night it got pretty hot.

Very nice hostel. Lovely decor, great facilities and a nice chilled vibe. They have fun evening activities and run lots of tours which is a great way to explore the lagoon. Only con is the price. We found the price fluctuated every time we checked on Hostelworld. At one point, when looking in the UK, they were charging over £30 a night for the cheapest dorm which seemed highly extortionate. Luckily we booked at a later date for a much more reasonable price.

I liked the Yak House but for some reason I paid $1,000MXN more than the woman who stayed in the bed below my bunk despite us staying for the same amount of time and we both booked the day before so that was a negative for me.

I really didn't enjoy my stay at his hostel. The music in the bar area in front of the lake was annoyingly loud and on all day. There was nowhere to sit relax and socialise by the lake without being deafened and having to practically shout to be heard. I like hostels where also you are not simply seen as dollar signs. I wanted to leave a day early because of this but due to company policy was refused any refund even 50%. If you want to chill relax and socialise this hostel is not the place

This hostel could be great (staff, location), but the big problem is that its sooo hot in Bacalar but there is NO AC during the day (only at night when its not hot anyway). If you wanna be in the room during the day, even for half an hour, it will be so hard! There is also no AC in all the areas of the hostel. The price is high.

Expected this place to be epic, but in our room number 10 it was like 30 degrees despite the air conditioning being on 16. It really just wasn't adequate for the room size and made for the two worst nights sleep on my trip. Also this is a high price hostel but they don't take card like every other high range hostel. I had to go to three different ATM's in town until I found a working one. Just really unacceptable to have cash only and obviously avoid tax with high prices.
