Very friendly and accommodating family and staff. Located close to the Plaza de Armas and many good restaurants/shops as well. The common areas and rooms were very clean. You can be picked up for many tours directly from this hostel if you want. If you are conflicted about choosing a hostel in Arequipa, I would strongly recommend Vallecito.

We had a great stay here! Well equipped kitchen and nice staff. They didn’t speak that much English but we didn’t speak Spanish at all and we managed and even extended from 2 nights to 5 nights. They let us have our luggage stored when we went three days to Colca Canyon and helped us get a taxi when going to the bus station even though they were busy with the breakfast (great breakfast btw - either eggs or pancakes). We both tried a room for 2 and a 6 dorm room there and both of them were good

Probably the best hostel we stayed in in Peru! The people are so friendly and helpful, and the rooms are large and clean! It has a lovely terrace to hang out on.

Lovely family run hostel, very clean facilities and great value private rooms. Breakfast was delicious and the staff are very friendly. Not much of a social atmosphere, nice outdoor terrace to sit in.

This place is great if you’re staying with a friend and don’t want to meet people. The atmosphere is very quiet and the hostel is basic, but it’s perfectly fine for a few days. Staff are very accommodating (let me pay half price to check out in the evening instead of the morning), and the location is great — five minutes from the main square. Breakfast is also delicious (and included). Overall, I had a positive experience here!

I have mixed feelings about this place. For a cheap backpacker hostel it's a great place to stay, very central and owner super helpful. Breakfast was great too. However I wouldn't expect to meet other people there. Main concern was the maintenance of the place... our shower leaked through our bedroom wall, electric plugs didn't work (although they came in and fixed it when I asked!), paint is heavily flaking off the ceiling in some bathrooms, very humid... you get what you paid for!

I booked a private room with private bathroom but the room had a very strong chemical smell so they let me switch to a private room/shared bathroom. Overall the place was clean and pretty decent. It was very quiet and relaxing. The location was convenient and safe. It seems to be family run. The staff doesn’t speak English and didn’t seem to be particularly friendly. I think they are understaffed and there wasn’t always someone available at the front desk when I had questions or needed help.

Paper thin walls. Not for a light sleeper. Also staff claimed I hadn’t cancelled my second night when I did so upon arrival.
