I loved everything about this place. Cozy fireplaces in all the common rooms dried all my clothes and boots before heading out the next day. Thanks Pat for the amazing hospitality and Rory for the ideas of where to travel next!!

Took a bit to find only because it was dark out and it’s a bit back from the road but we had the best weekend away in Achill because of the Valley House. Pat greeted us in the pub and even upgraded us to a private room for free! Comfy beds, warm fires, and tasty pints. We were lucky enough to meet a local at the pub too, the cutest pup named Buster!

I had a lovely time staying at this hostel, but it was mainly because of the people/workers I met, rather than the hostel itself. Checking in at the pub made me a bit nervous and I didn’t feel like I could ask all the questions I had. Very, very remote- I ended up hitchhiking all over the island. With that said, this hostel will always have a special place in my heart because of the people I met.

Had a great time in this hostel, lovely staff and great atmosphere. Authentic turf fired old pub with musicians and musicians passing by and calling in for a few pints. Spent 3 days here, surrounded by some of the best scenery in Ireland

Super super cool place. I went when it was way too empty, out of season. But the pub attached is awesome, fireplace, guitars and locals playing them; willing to let you jam with them. Tons of character. Highly recommended

Very unique atmosphere - interesting history to the building - it almost needs modernization - but you'd be afraid modernization might rob some of the aesthetic etc - I stayed for 1 night - loved the pub - loved the roaring fire
