Property Description

Villa Sandra Guesthouse is the first backpackers' place and the only eco guesthouse in Malapascua. It is run by Jonjon and his friendly staff.

The Villa Sandra area consists of 4 bungalows all with private bathrooms, a building with all the private rooms and the dormitories with shared bathrooms, a big vegetarian and vegan restaurant (not only for vegetarians/vegans!:)) and even more toilets and bathrooms made from recycled plastic bottles! The
restaurant is decorated with recycled glass bottles, lots of hand-made dreamcatchers, art and colorful fairy lights. The guesthouse is full of paintings made by many creative artists from all over the world, and a Freedom Wall where anyone can leave any message for other travellers. All the beds in the guesthouse are equipped with mosquito nets. We offer free accommodation and food to artists willing to paint something beautiful on the walls or musicians willing to give live music concerts at the guesthouse!
We have a spacious chill-out area upstairs with lots of hammocks, surrounded by nature. From there you can climb on the guesthouse's rooftop where you can enjoy the best view on the island for seeing the spectacular Malapascuan sunsets over the sea!

Guests staying at VS can enjoy free WiFi, unlimited drinking water and toilet paper, cooking facilities and fridge. VS has been awarded five stars by Trip Advisor from happy backpackers reviews.

Our restaurant uses fully organic local produce, with some ingredients (veggies, fruits, roots and herbs) home-grown here in VS, and the rest bought fresh from the local markets, no pesticides. Our food portions are not only huge, filling, healthy and delicious, but also come at an affordable price.

We invite everyone who wants to be a part of the change on the island, to volunteer at our feeding, education and games program for island children on every Saturday, with the collaboration of Go Green Malapascua and De La Mano Por El Mundo organizations. We educate children about the plastic problem in our country, play fun games with them and feed them. A percentage of the hand-made charity island souvenirs&jewellery sold in Villa Sandra goes towards the support of these programs!

There are many things to experience on the island; diving, boat trips, snorkeling, cliff jumping, beautiful beaches, basketball, Filipino food, fiesta and the local disco every Saturday.

Villa Sandra is in the centre of The Village and is close to local shops and bakeries, two minutes away from the port (where you will arrive), and a five minute walk to Bounty Beach, where most of of the island’s dive shops are. The nearest chill out beach is Tepanee's, a 5 minute walk, where you can snorkel all the way to tiny Dakit-Dakit island to see beautiful corals and schools of fishes. Villa Sandra also offers snorkeling gear for rent. The locals in Malapascua are friendly and like to talk to travellers. They may even ask you to join them for a drink or food!

See you here and always remember: Don't Panic; it's Organic! :) View House Rules

I booked only one night, endded up staying 5. Probably the most amazing hostel ever, the atmosphere was lovely and everyone tried to make u feel comfortable. A lot of space to chill and the restaurant is amazing as well. It's not luxurious (ur in hostel in asia, duh) but there was just nothing wrong with this place. (And Jonjon is Cool and the puppies are just lovely!)

My friend recommended here so I stayed here despite the mediocre review I initially saw.... but staying here in person, I really loved the vibe of everything - jonjon (the owner), musical performers and co-staffs. So welcoming and loving. Vegan options made me feel so healthy as Filipino food is quite meat-based. I also had the privilege to go snorkelling and diving with Jonjon which made my stay extra special :) I only stayed here for two nights but I know I will come back again!

Such a special place. The band at night really manages to create this most amazing vibe I will never forget. In the evenings the place has a very social atmosphere and during the day its the perfect kind of chill. The facilities aren't great but the people and the place make up for it. I really recommend Villa Sandra it made my stay in Malapascua and I was sad to leave. Also really good veggie restaraunt! Unfortunately some of my stuff was stolen the last night so watch out for that.

Villa Sandra is such a beautiful place. Great chill out and common areas making it easy to meet new people. Facilities are basic but they are all you need. Free water refills and encourage you not to use plastic. Live music every nights. They have an on-site vegetarian restaurant and the food it tasty. I was hesitant about booking Villa Sandra due negative reviews regarding the staff there but I thought book it anyway...and to my relief the staff were helpful, welcoming and friendly.

    Very Good

the place is rasta-cool. With deco made from plastic bottles. In the evening, the place lights up and becomes "the place to be" in town with live music. The staff is nice and very friendly. Know that the place is for hardcore backpackers, the cleanliness is not their priority and mosquito nets serve more more a decoration. (!!!) than a obstacle for mosquitoes. Reservations are recommended.

Probably the best vegetarian food on the island! It says it’s made with love but it’s served by really grumpy staff. There’s a few lovely people but majority were super rude. This place has a lot of potential but the staff ruin the vibe..

The vibe is great, it has a good restaurant and often live music. However the rooms aren't great, it's all very noisy and not so clean. We decided to move to another hostel in Malapascua after our first night
