Property Description

Vista Verde is a hostel with local owners, with Mayan descent.
It all started with a dream, the story begins with a mother with six children, fighting hard to give each day her bread to each of her children. The owner named Celia is 60 years old, previously engaged in the work of laundry, agriculture and more. Our first language is the Mayan Qékchi language, the second language is Spanish, therefore we speak very little English.

If you want to have a contact with the local Mayan culture we recommend you to come to green view, all our staff can tell you our roots and traditions, our language and customs.

Our concept is of a rustic and ecological hostel, with a culture and traction of Guatemala and Lanquin, we have helpful staff who are willing to help you in all, all our rooms have views of the mountains, some overlooking the river

We have an incredible pool, overlooking the small town of Lanquin, a sunrise that you can never forget.

Our hostel is very new and our concept is ecology therefore we only work with solar panels and a generator that provide electric power to our rooms, we have electric power in the rooms from 6:00 pm - 12:00 am, if you want water hot only in the aforementioned hours, in the morning and part of the day we do not have hot water
Vista Verde Hostal is the first ecological hostel with descendant lanquinera, located at the entrance of Lanquin. For your comfort, the hostel offers a bar and restaurant service onsite. Breakfast is served daily, extra-fee may be applied. From the property, you will enjoy fantastic views over the mountain, river or city.

Vista Verde Hostal is located near Lanquin, at the top of a small hill overlooking the city and mountain. The property is located only 5 minutes away from the city of Lanquin.

Vista Verde Hostal offers comfortable rooms, private and shared rooms. There are dorms up to 5 people and private rooms for 2 people. All rooms have shared bathroom.

This is an eco hostel, so there are some things such as no wi Fi in the rooms or electricity but the staff are very accommodating at the bar/restaurant area in providing extra extension cords etc. Despite other reviews, the staff are welcoming. There is a language barrier in some instances as the family are Mayan, so not all speak English or even Spanish but we didn’t find this an issue. The meals are good portions, although it’s a walk from town, you can be at other eating places in 10 mins

Very authentic jungly cabins with a beautiful view of the mountains etc, staff very helpful and lovely and made friends with you very quickly! The only issue is food’s a little expensive and sometimes your only option is eating at the hostel

For the view the place is great! But the cabanas is very okay! The wall are very thin so you can hear everything! The staff are nice and the pool is a plus!

Staff try and force tours too much and only see the gringo money on arrival. Pool is nice but hard to access, atmosphere is far better across at another hostel. A forced tab at the bar for everything strikes concerns, staff are friendly though. Rooms are dodgy getting into and a few bugs/mosquitos to be expected overnight.

Meh, its okay. Hostel was clean and not too worn out yet. Some of the staff were quite rude and pushy, you felt like you were bothering them when you asked for help. Location is pretty nice. Food overpriced.

The Pros: location is close to town center but just far enough away to enjoy some solitude. The local party hostel --Zephyr Lodge-- is just across the ravine, so you can hear music until midnight but that didn't really impact my sleep. The pool is lovely with gorgeous views and the grounds were impeccable. The staff are nice, but mostly speak only Spanish. The Cons: the private rooms are VERY basic. I found the single beds pretty uncomfortable, and there was no sound barrier between the rooms

The location and view from the hostel pool was amazing but the facilities were very basic. The room was very small and there were lots of cockroaches all over room. PLEASE be warned that the guy that does the tours may try to scam you. His name was Jorge and was very aware of a scam that was running from Flores about the bus tickets to Antigua. He will offer to help you get a bus if your ticket does not work and then charge you too much for the ticket. Pay the driver directly.

Very pretty hostel, pool and dorms were lovely. Wifi and charging only available in the common area. As with lockers. There is no kitchen available and inconveient to walk into town for food so expect to buy your food from the hostel restaurant. Staff were often rude and snappy and good at taking your money. Tour was ok, but again over priced. Nice place but the staff could have looked after the guests a little better.
