Property Description

Vista Verde is a hostel with local owners, with Mayan descent.
It all started with a dream, the story begins with a mother with six children, fighting hard to give each day her bread to each of her children. The owner named Celia is 60 years old, previously engaged in the work of laundry, agriculture and more. Our first language is the Mayan Qékchi language, the second language is Spanish, therefore we speak very little English.

If you want to have a contact with the local Mayan culture we recommend you to come to green view, all our staff can tell you our roots and traditions, our language and customs.

Our concept is of a rustic and ecological hostel, with a culture and traction of Guatemala and Lanquin, we have helpful staff who are willing to help you in all, all our rooms have views of the mountains, some overlooking the river

We have an incredible pool, overlooking the small town of Lanquin, a sunrise that you can never forget.

Vista Verde Hostal is the first ecological hostel with descendant lanquinera, located at the entrance of Lanquin. For your comfort, the hostel offers a bar and restaurant service onsite. Breakfast is served daily, extra-fee may be applied. From the property, you will enjoy fantastic views over the mountain, river or city.

Vista Verde Hostal is located near Lanquin, at the top of a small hill overlooking the city and mountain. The property is located only 5 minutes away from the city of Lanquin.

Vista Verde Hostal offers comfortable rooms, private and shared rooms. There are dorms up to 5 people and private rooms for 2 people. All rooms have shared bathroom.

I was utmost impressed by their overall offerings. The staff is super friendly and attentive to details (always looking to please). The hostel is kept sparkling clean, both: common areas and rooms. Very good (luncheonette style) food, prepared to your desire, on premises. Scenery is blasting, luscious green with a riverfront at the back. The swimming pool, at the top of a hill is relaxing and comforting. Great deal. They deserve a third star.

Don't miss this hostel if you plan to go to Semuc Champey. The staff is amazing, all the time smiling and helping with everything. The food is very good quality-prize. The best thing of this place are the views. You wake up in the morning in that "Palapa" with amazing views to the forest and the mountains... and also in the infinity pool you can enjoy an amazing sunset and sunrise. They also have good prices for the tour for a complete day full of activities, and the guide is amazing!

Vista Verde was truly a special hostel, particularly because of the welcoming and kind staff. It was a pleasure to stay there. Well located with a great view and comfortable dorms. The food (not included) is very good and they can help you organize a tour. A member of the staff was there at the bus station when I arrived to help me efficiently navigate to the hostel. It was a great stay from beginning to end.

Really chilled out hostel in a stunning location. Swimming pool has views over valley and jungle. Their Semuc Champey tour was the cheapest we found and included the caves and tubing as well as the natural park. In fact it was one of our favourite activities in Guatemala. Staff were a highlight of our stay, shout out to the amazing Lisa whose energy is unmatched!

Nice hostel in a beautiful location in the forest, but far from Lanquin. Clean. The staff were nice and helpfull, but the lady that runs the place could get impatient. Cheap resturant but not always so good

This place is in desperate need of a manager. Lisa, the women in charge, is very confrontational and lost. Everything is a confrontation with this women. It turned what would have been a good stay into a not so great one. She is crazy.

I didn’t enjoy my time here. The rooms were so hot, I had to beg for a fan. I came across as needy (fan times) and she wouldn’t help call a cab the next morning, when the night b4 she could, I was sort of stuck to do their tour. Tour was fun tho. Beds have nets for bugs, you’ll need em! Pillows are couch cushions? She tried to charge me for a shuttle I didn’t take as well, so check your bill. I ended up at another 100x better hostel up the hill. Just go to zephyr. Sorry lady but ur not cool.

Went to see friends until 10:30pm the night we stayed and came back to barbed wire binding the fence shut and had to army crawl underneath in the mud. Calmly approached staff about it and were told “goodnight you need to go to bed now” rather than discussing in English or Spanish. Dorm doors don’t have a lock or latch so need to be barricaded. Group of four has been sick for two weeks now since eating breakfast with them. WiFi is only on 7a-11p and only reaches the main lobby so no WiFi in rooms
