Property Description

Vongkham Eco Resort has been built from scratch based on an idea of providing a getaway from the city and also as a springboard to the rural communities and attractions in the local area. It is a place to relax and unwind in an established garden and close enough to all amenities. It is set in a hectare of land with over 150 trees including Lychee, Longon, Dragon-fruit, Tamarind, Papaya, Mango, Coconut, Banana, Almond. Various established plants and flowers are actively grown throughout the year and large marigold flower field provides cash crops for festivals and buddhist ceremonies.Ducks, geese and chickens roam free and there is plenty of natural wildlife. Bird song can be heard at dawn and dusk and sunrises and sunsets can be crimson red and orange.

Mountain bikes on site are free to use and with over 50 kilometres of dirt tracks, it makes riding the bicycles to see the surrounding scenery a must. Don't be surprised if on your bike travels you get invited into peoples homes to experience real Lao hospitality and culture.

The tents and huts are furnished and electricity; lighting and fans are supplied. There is a shower block and toilets in the camping area, bamboo huts have en-suite bathrooms. Private quadruple rooms and chalet bungalows have toilets, showers and air conditioning.

The main common areas at the back of the resort are the firepit and seating under shade around the tents and the seating by the badminton area. In the central part of the resort we have the raised main hut with darts, bowling and snooker View House Rules

If I could rate higher than a 10, I would do so without hesitation. Vincent and has family were nothing but welcoming, helpful, and hosopitable during my stay. He is beyond passionate about the eco part of being an eco resort, putting everything he has into creating this beautiful space for others to enjoy. The pictures don't even do it justice. I was treated to an authentic Laos meal, taken to the breath-taking art cafe nearby for drinks, and was truly given the experience of a lifetime.

I booked 4 nights and stayed 2 weeks! This is such an awesome family ran eco hostel, I experienced authentic Lao culture. I loved the homemade cooking! My tent was completely insect free. Staff double checked it for me on arrival, encouraged me to keep it zipped and gave me a mosquito net! I chilled in the incredible eco garden, nature watched and used free bicycles to explore! There are opportunities to volunteer and join the awesome community. I will return to volunteer next week, join me!

Really enjoyed staying here, it made for such a memorable couple of days. The owner is passionate about the resort which is home to him and his Lao family. He is very welcoming and genuinely wants guests to enjoy the place. He took us to the local market and made us a bbq by the campfire. Free bicycles were perfect for exploring the local area which is an interesting contrast from city. I highly recommend staying and spending some time here! Thanks for having us 😊

Highly recommend if you're looking for something out of the norm. Expect a bit of a journey to get food, less than perfect internet, a serene environment, brilliant people, and for it to all come together to form something that was easily the highlight and most memorable part of my brushing through Laos.

For us, the location and the security were good. It was far removed from the city so don’t get caught searching for a tuk tuk at 9:30pm as it will be a tough fine. But if you time everything well then you will enjoy your stay. We didn’t get to cruise around the lake because we decided to hit the road from Vientiane pretty quickly but those that did had good things to say. I would recommend it and would stay again. The family was very nice and the facilities were good, though the kitchen was fine

Vongkham Eco Resort was an awesome escape from the city into a relaxed, natural environment. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My tent was incredibly comfortable and clean. My favorite part was meeting new friends amongst the other guests! I would definitely come back next time I visit Vientiane

Super nice family business. We stayed in one of the tents and it was such a nice break from the hecticness of travelling around South East Asia. Very relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with lots of places to rest and read a book or play billiards and darts. Staff are amazing. Would suggest staying at least two nights because it’s a 30-40 minute drive out of Vientiane centre.

At the campsite, I found everything I look for when I travel: genuine hospitality, adventure, and a local experience. Vince accepted me as one of his own family members and let me share 2 wonderful nights with his family. Eating, drinking & sharing stories. This was the highlight of my trip to Laos. It’s off the beaten path but the free mountain bikes ensured that I got to truly experience the area and the local community. If you’re looking for a genuine serene and special experience, come here.

Lovely location and lovely property, with lots of different plants and wildlife - a really lovely rural retreat! Very relaxing, great facilities, lovely food and drink. Host was very chatty and gave us good recommendations for things to do. Apart from the host, none of the staff spoke any English, which presented a few problems with checking in, ordering food, sorting WiFi etc. Also worth noting that it’s a 40 minute bus into town, which was fine for us but may not be what some people want!

I found a large scorpion in my tent shortly after arrival. After this, I felt too unsafe and scared to stay in the tent (even after the scorpion was removed). Owner let me stay 1 night inside in a dorm room, and he was very kind and helpful. However, I was disappointed that I had to leave the next night as my only choice was to pay $20USD (outside a backpacker budget) for the inside room or return to the tent.
