Overview

Wild Rover Backpackers in central La Paz brings Irish hospitality to Bolivia. Once a presidential mansion, the hostel now houses the highest Irish pub in the world – we're 3,600 metres above sea level! Join us and fellow globetrotters for nightly themed parties, cheap drinks and live music. You can recover from an afternoon of cycling through the city streets by heading to one of our three sunny patios or collapsing into a comfy beanbag in the TV room. When it's time to kick-start the night, take on your new travel buddies at a game of beer pong!

Location

We're centrally located in downtown La Paz, a few blocks away from Plaza Murillo where you can check out the Cathedral and Government Palace. You can catch a taxi from the main bus terminal and reach us in just five minutes. If you’re arriving by plane into El Alto International Airport, the best way to get to the hostel is to hop in a taxi, which takes around 40 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

We have lots of different rooms to choose from, including two types of dorms – traditional bunks or pod-style beds with privacy curtains and built-in storage lockers. Both have female-only options and all have either a private or shared bathroom with power showers. If you fancy a bit more space, book a double or twin room and sprawl out after a long day's sightseeing. Ask for one of the smaller dorms if you want to be further away from the bar.

Extras and activities

Try some traditional Bolivian food (such as silpancho made from rice, potatoes and minced beef) at our on-site restaurant or stick with international favourites like lasagna or stir-fry. Our reception team's available 24/7 so give them a shout when you want to organise trips to the Salar de Uyuni salt flats or Lake Titicaca. If you prefer to do your own background research, hook up to the hostel's free Wi-Fi and start planning your itinerary.

Spent the week at La Paz Wild Rover and had a fantastic time, Staff were amazing and friendly. Great party vibe and although the bar is a little small, it's still a lot of fun. We stayed during the COVID-19 outbreak and staff were helpful and informative, helping guests make plans to leave and extending stays. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a chilled hostel with great atmosphere and good vibes. Beds were clean and private, I'd recommend staying in the 6 bed superior

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere at the bar was good- although a party hostel I met some people who wanted to chill and have some conversations amidst the partying which was nice. Room was clean and my luxury dorm had a privacy curtain which was good. Showers were good and bathroom was cleaned regularly.

Great party hostel, you can party if you want, but you can also get a good sleep. Only negative is that the showers do not have hot water even though it says they do, they are freezing

So nice to find a party hostel that doesn’t compromise cleanliness for a good time! Location was good, parties were great, staff are lovely. Decent drink deals and good food - although food can be quite slow so not the best if you’re in a hurry. The biggest downside to the place is the really really bad WiFi

Such a good place to party and meet people. Drinks and food are expensive but the food is good. The place is cleaned very regularly. However when it is raining there are no comunal areas to sit in other than the bar. Nice, friendly staff. Tours are very expensive so best to go elsewhere - Xtreme Downhill across the road was a good reasonably priced company to book death road with.

In general I can’t make any complaints about the hostel the majority of the staff are lovely and helpful however we had an accident during our stay in which my friend hit her head and I went to the receptionist for help and she was completely useless she only offered two aspririn and only called the doctor when I insisted. She did not come down and check on the situation. She told me to come back in the morning to ring the doctor and dentist and when I returned she remained extremely unhelpful.
