Hostelworld says

We like the very central location of Wombats City Hostel Budapest, just a block from Andrássy utca and five minutes from a metro station serving three lines going to Buda, the airport stop and the three main train stations. This friendly, clean hostel opened in 2012 in a former hotel. It features spacious ensuite rooms with free air conditioning, free welcome drinks for guests and a budget-friendly all-you-can-eat breakfast with yoghurt, fruit and good bread.

Amazing location! Private rooms are really good and are reasonably priced. Was great to have a bar at the hostel, especially with cheap drink prices

Overall, everything was really good. The room could do with a fan of some sort though just to get a little air flow but other than that, really happy

    Fabulous

    19 Aug 2019
Room was big with lots of space, same with the locker also. Room was clean and the bathroom wasn’t too bad either. The room was very hot ever night even with the windows open but it was a heat wave so they can’t really control that. Atmosphere was pretty dead and I only met one person willing to socialise. Laundry need to maintenance as half the machines were inoperable. Location and cost makes up for everything though! Cheap and right the action so it is a bit noisy!

    Very Good

    20 Aug 2019
Great location and the rooms were really clean, however the bathroom downstairs was disgusting and made the whole common area smell. Staff weren’t that helpful when we asked questions about things like airport shuttles/hostel facilities. As a young couple, the vibe wasn’t right for us - however I think even if I was a solo traveller, the common area was way too spread out to meet people. Also all the amenities were pretty expensive. Drinks in the bar were like 2-3 times usual price

Bathroom and rooms were very dirty. Daily cleaning had not be completed for a few days, and I had to prompt the staff to have our washroom cleaned. Still was less than satisfied after the cleaning happened. Entire hostel smelt of sewage.

    Good

    17 Aug 2019
The walls between the rooms are pretty thin so you hear when your neighbors come home from a long party night, when they have a party in their room or even when someone has the need to run to the toilet because he had too much alcohol... Besides that, rooms are clean and staff is nice. Security-wise, basically everyone can get into the luggage room by asking them to open it at reception. And there are People selling drugs around the streets of the hostel.

If you’re looking for a clean place, this hostel is not the one you’re looking for. We stayed 4 days in it and our room was not made once; plus, it was dirty at the very beginning. But location was good.

Wombats City Hostel Budapest says

I think what's really unique about us is that this was a pretty good hotel before we upgraded it to a Wombats , so it comes with some amenities you don´t typically find in a hostel, like really big rooms, a/c, nice en suite facilities (even with hairdryers) and amply dimensioned common areas. It´s the biggest hostel in town, so guaranteed never boring. And the house is run by a really, really enthusiastic team.
We're one block from Andrassy utca (Budapest's version of the Champs Elysse), the main cathedral is just around the corner and the history city centre is a ten-minute walk away. Walk in the other direction and you're in the middle of the most lively nightlife area. Personally I recommend hitting Corvintetö, a superb rooftop club not far away. The langos shop next to the entrance is ridiculously good (and cheap), too.
Most of our guests are twentysomethings. Budapest offers excellent nightlife and is very cheap, so it attracts a lot of people who intend to indulge in it. Klaus, CFO Wombats
