If you want to stay down near the party area, walking distance to szimpla bar, the Jewish quarter and the Saint Stephen's church. It's about a 25 minute walk across to the Buda side. Totally worth it. Had a 4 person share room. Was enough room, had air con but the WiFi wasn't top notch. Only annoying when you have to book tickets for things and it times out.

Very good hostel, and it’s very close to a lot of clubs, bars, shops and attractions so the location is excellent. No issue with the staff, they were all very nice. The only issue we had was that when we checked-in late at 1 in the morning, one of our lockers did not work so we had to leave luggage in the luggage room. (However the locker was fixed the next day). Definitely recommend

Overall, the staff were lovely however it ran more as a hotel than a hostel so the atmosphere was a lot less personal. Moreover, despite a no noise past 10pm rule, my room were kept awake by the adjacent rule playing loud music and partaking in drinking games... we complained at reception at 11:00pm as we had a long day traveling and wanted to sleep but one staff member said it was to late to complain. Apart from that one anomaly, the rest of the stay was lovely and it is such a good location

Fantastic place to stay. The bar is lovely, complete with a foosball table, a pool table and a "charge-your-phone-hangout-area" at the back. Location was smack bang in the middle of town and the staff were very helpful! Had an amazing time!

Perfectly located in the heart of the Jewish quarter, near major attractions, delicious food, and the ruin bars. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with AC (uncommon in Eastern Europe) and ensuite bathrooms. The hostel itself is huge, more like a hotel, with lots of big groups, so it’s harder for solo travellers to meet people, but there’s lots of social activities available if you’re interested in that. As a heads up, they do require an ID deposit. Overall a good experience.

Pretty much as advertised. Not too party oriented but the option is definitely there. Close to lots of stuff, pub crawl is reasonable. This place hosts contiki tours so be ready for a buttload of teenagers who have just been released into the wild.

This hostel was good, but wasn’t the best I’ve stayed in. The bathroom in my room had an awful smell and the staff didn’t seem too surprised by it. It was also very loud at night because it is such a big hostel. The room where they hold luggage is an open room, there are no lockers and it did not seem very secure. All you had to do was ask reception to let you in and they didn’t have any form of checking to make sure you were taking your things. Overall a pretty good place for the money.

As a lone female I found this hostel a little big.. didn’t realise how large it was. Over three floors of rooms. Which I found hard to mingle unless you literally walk up to people in the large common area. I would also say this is a party hostel which it is not advertised as. The staff were friendly.. the place was clean. And good location. I’d more recommend for groups not solo travellers.

Location to the centre was great for the value of money! However the walls seem to be very thin so we heard a lot of people running between corridors and what they were doing in their rooms which wasn't great. Facilities are basic but has everything you need.

Wombats City Hostel Budapest says

I think what's really unique about us is that this was a pretty good hotel before we upgraded it to a Wombats , so it comes with some amenities you don´t typically find in a hostel, like really big rooms, a/c, nice en suite facilities (even with hairdryers) and amply dimensioned common areas. It´s the biggest hostel in town, so guaranteed never boring. And the house is run by a really, really enthusiastic team.
We're one block from Andrassy utca (Budapest's version of the Champs Elysse), the main cathedral is just around the corner and the history city centre is a ten-minute walk away. Walk in the other direction and you're in the middle of the most lively nightlife area. Personally I recommend hitting Corvintetö, a superb rooftop club not far away. The langos shop next to the entrance is ridiculously good (and cheap), too.
Most of our guests are twentysomethings. Budapest offers excellent nightlife and is very cheap, so it attracts a lot of people who intend to indulge in it. Klaus, CFO Wombats
