This friendly, clean hostel opened in 2012 in a former hotel. It features spacious ensuite rooms with free air conditioning, free welcome drinks for guests and a budget-friendly all-you-can-eat breakfast with yoghurt, fruit and good bread.

Great hostel with fantastic staff. Lost my passport on a pub crawl and one of the staff did wonders helping me out with finding it the next day. Only criticism is the wifi was pretty bad, other than that it would be a 10/10.

The location is excellent with about very convenient to everywhere. I have the 4 beds per room which was quite roomy with bathroom and private locker with provided key. Staff are friendly and English speaking. Book early for cheaper rate. Buy the 72hrs travel-card, and take the bigger boat evening ride for 10 with drink or meal(bring your own on board)

Great location, comfy beds, friendly and helpful staff - great location. Also clean. Worth the money and they also hold bar crawls so it has a social aspect too without it being too noisy.

I’d highly recommend wombats in Budapest because it’s so central and the atmosphere is fantastic in the area. There is so much to fill in during the day and night near this hostel. Security could be tightened as cleaners were able to access our room at any time. Overall great trip.

LOCATION IS AMAZING! the beds were comfortable and the showers were great. The only downside is unfortunately it’s very hot in the rooms in summer (unbearably so) as well as the common area so I didn’t spend any time there- in saying this they have a huge area for chilling and socialising. My third stay with Wombat’s

The place was so dirty!!! Everything would have been great if it were clean. There was also a leak in the cieling that was dripping dirty water. On top of a disgusting bathroom, hair everywhere!

    Very Good

The location is perfect, I didn’t need to use transportations most of the time. It could be cleaner, they clean the bathroom every morning but it’s white so it gets very dirty by the end of the day, and its windows are big, I felt like people in the opposite building could see my shadow. Many things were out of order (elevator, computer, coffee machine,..). Breakfast is good and worth the money. Staff are the best thing about this hostel, very nice and helpful.

Wombats City Hostel Budapest says

I think what's really unique about us is that this was a pretty good hotel before we upgraded it to a Wombats , so it comes with some amenities you don´t typically find in a hostel, like really big rooms, a/c, nice en suite facilities (even with hairdryers) and amply dimensioned common areas. It´s the biggest hostel in town, so guaranteed never boring. And the house is run by a really, really enthusiastic team.
We're one block from Andrassy utca (Budapest's version of the Champs Elysse), the main cathedral is just around the corner and the history city centre is a ten-minute walk away. Walk in the other direction and you're in the middle of the most lively nightlife area. Personally I recommend hitting Corvintetö, a superb rooftop club not far away. The langos shop next to the entrance is ridiculously good (and cheap), too.
Most of our guests are twentysomethings. Budapest offers excellent nightlife and is very cheap, so it attracts a lot of people who intend to indulge in it. Klaus, CFO Wombats
