Hostelworld says

We like the very central location of Wombats City Hostel Budapest, just a block from Andrássy utca and five minutes from a metro station serving three lines going to Buda, the airport stop and the three main train stations. This friendly, clean hostel opened in 2012 in a former hotel. It features spacious ensuite rooms with free air conditioning, free welcome drinks for guests and a budget-friendly all-you-can-eat breakfast with yoghurt, fruit and good bread.

Really nice place to stay and great location, within walking distance of everywhere really. Bring earplugs though as sometimes at night it can be really loud outside (cars and car horns etc.) Had a great and relaxed stay.

The Location is great, but when I walked into my room it smelled like an armpit. Straight up Boiling onions. Now when I spoke to the receptionist about this she told me it was an old building and to just run the water for a few moments and the smell would stop. However I closed my bathroom door, and I ran the water yet the smell persisted in my room. The new room she gave me smelled the same. I got a clean room at the roombach for the same money. The whole place smells bad.

I stayed for here 2 nights. I Chose this hostel because of the references that I also read, and ended up completely disillusioned... I was expecting something better. The location is quite good but also super noisy area ALL night. HORRIBLE CLEANING the same hairs that I saw in the bathroom the first day, were the last day. They do not clean and the whole building is super smelly :( I left there sick and with flu allergies.

This hostel is in a great location... It’s a little run down and dirty to be honest. No atmosphere for the 3 nights I stayed in March. Breakfast was absolute rubbish. Some people were complaining of Bedbugs... which I didn’t see.. but I was paranoid my whole stay.

Wombats City Hostel Budapest says

I think what's really unique about us is that this was a pretty good hotel before we upgraded it to a Wombats , so it comes with some amenities you don´t typically find in a hostel, like really big rooms, a/c, nice en suite facilities (even with hairdryers) and amply dimensioned common areas. It´s the biggest hostel in town, so guaranteed never boring. And the house is run by a really, really enthusiastic team.
We're one block from Andrassy utca (Budapest's version of the Champs Elysse), the main cathedral is just around the corner and the history city centre is a ten-minute walk away. Walk in the other direction and you're in the middle of the most lively nightlife area. Personally I recommend hitting Corvintetö, a superb rooftop club not far away. The langos shop next to the entrance is ridiculously good (and cheap), too.
Most of our guests are twentysomethings. Budapest offers excellent nightlife and is very cheap, so it attracts a lot of people who intend to indulge in it. Klaus, CFO Wombats
