Hostelworld says

Wombats City Hostel was rated the most popular in Munich at the 2017 Hoscars and we're not surprised. This friendly hostel offers a lot of nice extras to guests, such as parking in the basement, a fully-stocked bar and a frequently praised all-you-can-eat breakfast. We particularly like the hammocks and bean bags in their glass-roofed courtyard, where travellers can relax even during poor weather. They're located just 10 minutes' walk from the Oktoberfest and most sights in the city centre, as well as near the U-Bahn and international trains at the Hauptbahnhof.

Property Description

wombat’s CITY HOSTELS - MUNICH is definitely the place to stay if you want to fully enjoy Munich. We're just a stone's throw from the main train station which also serves as the major public transportation hub. wombat’s CITY HOSTELS is proud to be one of the most experienced hostel chains (20 years of hostel knowledge!) and a background of award winning houses located all over Europe: Berlin, Budapest, London, Munich, Venice and Vienna.

wombat’s CITY HOSTELS offers safe, clean, quality accommodations. Spacious dorm rooms with ensuite bathroom and individual lockers in dorms for personal belongings. At wombat’s MUNICH, we're especially proud of our air-conditioned, glass-roofed courtyard with real trees!

Included
+ bedding
+ fast WIFI in the entire building
+ our own wombat’s city maps
+ fully equipped guest kitchen (plus: free food section, free noodles and rice)
+ luggage room

Additional features
+ our lively womBar serves affordable drinks/cocktails/snacks and offers happy hours and regular events (check out the Hostel Events section on this site below!)
+ coin operated laundry facilities (washing and crying – ups, sorry about the typo, of course we mean drying), so you can re-vitalize your clothes ;)

Cleanliness is not something to take for granted in many other hostels, but we do take this seriously: we have won the 'cleanest hostel worldwide' award multiple times.

By travellers for travellers
We have travelled the world ourselves - so we know firsthand what you are doing and what you expect from us. We care for you and also for your feedback.

We make sure that you’ll feel safe and welcome here. When you have been on the road all day long, seeing sights and walking and walking, it's cool to have a nice scene at the hostel where you can relax, have some beers, exchange travel ideas and make new friends.

Among all the lovely details there’s one thing that makes wombat’s special; The hostel atmosphere that we all love, travellers sharing not only a space, but an experience.

This will make your stay a memorable one!

Location

The Hauptbahnhof (main train station) is a five-minute walk away, so we're easy to reach if you're coming by train, whether from another city or the airport on the S1 or S8 lines. Jump on the U-Bahn (underground) to get across the city quickly, and you'll be a 15-minute walk from the main bus station too. A short stroll lands you in the old town, where you'll find Hofbräuhaus, the largest beer hall in Munich (it seats 5,000 people!). If you're here for Oktoberfest it's just a 10-minute walk away.

Rooms and Dorms

We're serious about security. Our 24/7 reception means you can check in at any time, even if your flight's delayed. We'll give you a smart card to access the front and room doors, individual floors and lockers. Our mixed and female-only dorms, as well as private rooms, have comfy wooden beds or bunks. Every room has a private shower and toilet. Book a private double for a taste of the high life with your own terrace!

Extras and activities

We love handing out freebies: we'll give you bed linen, a welcome drink and access to the Wi-Fi, all on the house. When you fancy some downtime there are board games or pool on offer. Or if you're heading out, you can hire a bike from reception. Our self-made city maps will help you plan a route around the breweries and castles. Keen yogi? Join one of our yoga classes to balance your chakras.

Can’t say anything bad about this place. All the front desk staff members were friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and clean, and they definitely followed covid regulations. Will likely book again next time I’m in München.

This hostel is in a brilliant location and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The hostel itself is beautiful and they had the bar open in the evening to create some atmosphere despite the covid regulations. I had a fab stay!

I can't fault this hostel in any way. Very clean facilities, comfortable bed and a nice common area/courtyard. The hostel is located quite central and most of Munich's attractions are only minutes away. Looking forward to my next visit!

My favorite part of the hostel was the wintergarden. Really nice place to chill and meet people. Nicest common area of any hostel I've been to. Does a good job with cleaning and maintaining corona guidelines. Was the only person in my 6 person room the first few days which was nice and plenty of people in the wintergarden to socialize with. Recommend.

Perfect hostel with friendly staff and cool bartender! You don't have to go to outside bar to have some fun.. You will have great party time in the hostel bar itself with travelers.

Good hostel in a great location, the kitchen was lovely and clean. Only suggestion would be boxes for people to put thier food in the fridge. The room was nice and the beds very comfy with light and socket next to your head. We didn't pay for breakfast and just made our own. Staff were hit and miss some very friendly others acting like you inconvenience them but overall not to bad.

Probably normally a good hostel, but during COVID everything is very strict. I can't even sit and work on my laptop without a mask, need it on at all times! Bar was only open Thursday to Sunday...

Wombats City Hostel Munich says

We're right next to the Old Town so all the attractions are close! The one place we definitely recommend that guests visit is the Hofbräuhaus, obviously. That's why everyone comes to town - but we'd recommend not spending a lot of time with a tourist trap. Munich also has one of Europe's oldest public parks, the Englischer Garten. It's twice the size of New York's Central Park, has a lake, a standing wave for surfers, a nude beach and no less than four huge beer gardens.
The main age group of our guests is 19 to 29, like in almost every other hostel. In contrast to these, though, we don't only attract one set of people. Quite a lot of our guests don't usually stay in hostels but give it a try at wombat's because we've been recommended. We've seen couples in their 50s, or families, and they were just as satisfied as the 19-year-old American college kid who spends most of his time, err, getting wasted at the hostel bar. The highlight of the Hostel is the 'Wintergarten', an air-conditioned glass-roofed patio with great design furniture to hang out and chillax.
