Hostelworld says

Wombats City Hostel was rated the most popular in Munich at the 2017 Hoscars and we're not surprised. This friendly hostel offers a lot of nice extras to guests, such as parking in the basement, a fully-stocked bar and a frequently praised all-you-can-eat breakfast. We particularly like the hammocks and bean bags in their glass-roofed courtyard, where travellers can relax even during poor weather. They're located just 10 minutes' walk from the Oktoberfest and most sights in the city centre, as well as near the U-Bahn and international trains at the Hauptbahnhof.

Cleanliness is not something to take for granted in many other hostels, but we do take this seriously: we have won the 'cleanest hostel worldwide' award multiple times.

By travellers for travellers

Up to the usual wombats standard of cleanliness and facilities. More bar food options would be nice to see but it is a very short walk to the central train station or restaurants anyhow. Great location too.

Great room, towel included, free drink, no AC but room cooled down by night, loved the breakfast buffet (£5.30 but worth it), so close to train station, great bar and hangout areas.

Definitely recommend Wombats. It's right next to the main train station and a short walk to the city center. The place is clean and well organized. The staff is also very helpful and accommodating with anything you might need.

Nice hostel in a great location. It had a well equipped kitchen and really nice common areas for relaxing and meeting people. It was a very lively hostel, which is great if that is what you are looking for. It is geared toward the younger crowd.

Great hostel! Excellent location--literally a stone's throw from the train station. Excellent facilities and great atmosphere. Really nice staff. The breakfast is definitely worth the 5,30 euro. Overall, really great place.

    Fabulous

Clean, tidy and pleasant staff at check-in. Twin room was novel but also clean and had working shower etc. Air-Conditioning was not present which was a surprise as all other areas seemed to have it, free standing fan provided and did help, but not a real solution. Kitchen, bar, communal area were pleasant. Although located by the railway station with all it's associated issues of cleanliness etc. the hostel is only 5 minutes from the more central area which leads to the older part of the city.

    Very Good

Definitely not for solo travelers, probably great in big or small groups. Great location, rooms were pretty big, they got kinda hot but bearable as they provide fans. Nice to have an en-suite. Would love if they had more organised events through the hostel like bar crawl and night activities so people can get to know each other instead of a bunch of people just sitting on their phones in common areas. Has potential to be great just needs some improvements.

I got bedbugs from this hostel. I told the staff when i checked out and they said they would deal with it but then didnt even ask what bed i was in (we wern't assigned beds) so i doubt they did anything... my sheets had stains and holes in them too... Otherwise was good, kitchen was well stocked, bar was great with good atmosphere, rooms were big and spacious and was an easy walk to the old town.

Wombats City Hostel Munich says

We're right next to the Old Town so all the attractions are close! The one place we definitely recommend that guests visit is the Hofbräuhaus, obviously. That's why everyone comes to town - but we'd recommend not spending a lot of time with a tourist trap. Munich also has one of Europe's oldest public parks, the Englischer Garten. It's twice the size of New York's Central Park, has a lake, a standing wave for surfers, a nude beach and no less than four huge beer gardens.
The main age group of our guests is 19 to 29, like in almost every other hostel. In contrast to these, though, we don't only attract one set of people. Quite a lot of our guests don't usually stay in hostels but give it a try at wombat's because we've been recommended. We've seen couples in their 50s, or families, and they were just as satisfied as the 19-year-old American college kid who spends most of his time, err, getting wasted at the hostel bar. The highlight of the Hostel is the 'Wintergarten', an air-conditioned glass-roofed patio with great design furniture to hang out and chillax.
