Hostelworld says

Wombats City Hostel was rated the most popular in Munich at the 2017 Hoscars and we're not surprised. This friendly hostel offers a lot of nice extras to guests, such as parking in the basement, a fully-stocked bar and a frequently praised all-you-can-eat breakfast. We particularly like the hammocks and bean bags in their glass-roofed courtyard, where travellers can relax even during poor weather. They're located just 10 minutes' walk from the Oktoberfest and most sights in the city centre, as well as near the U-Bahn and international trains at the Hauptbahnhof.

Property Description

wombat’s CITY HOSTELS - MUNICH is definitely the place to stay if you want to fully enjoy Munich. We're just a stone's throw from the main train station which also serves as the major public transportation hub. It’s not much further to the old town (5-minute stroll) and we're also within close walking distance to the famous Oktoberfest grounds.
wombat’s CITY HOSTELS is proud to be one of the most experienced hostel chains (20 years of hostel knowledge!) and a background of award winning houses located all over Europe: Berlin, Budapest, London, Munich, Venice and Vienna.

wombat’s CITY HOSTELS offers safe, clean, quality accommodations. Spacious dorm rooms with ensuite bathroom and individual lockers in dorms for personal belongings. At wombat’s MUNICH, we're especially proud of our air-conditioned, glass-roofed courtyard with real trees!

Included
+ bedding
+ fast WIFI in the entire building
+ our own wombat’s city maps
+ fully equipped guest kitchen (plus: free food section, free noodles and rice)
+ luggage room
+ welcome drink

Additional features
+ our lively womBar serves affordable drinks/cocktails/snacks and offers happy hours and regular events (check out the Hostel Events section on this site below!)
+ breakfast buffet (for an additional fee): bread, muesli, yoghurt, cheese, spread, fruits, orange juice, milk, coffee, tea and much more
+ coin operated laundry facilities (washing and crying – ups, sorry about the typo, of course we mean drying), so you can re-vitalize your clothes ;)

Cleanliness is not something to take for granted in many other hostels, but we do take this seriously: we have won the 'cleanest hostel worldwide' award multiple times.

By travellers for travellers
We have travelled the world ourselves - so we know firsthand what you are doing and what you expect from us. We care for you and also for your feedback.

We make sure that you’ll feel safe and welcome here. When you have been on the road all day long, seeing sights and walking and walking, it's cool to have a nice scene at the hostel where you can relax, have some beers, exchange travel ideas and make new friends.

Among all the lovely details there’s one thing that makes wombat’s special; The hostel atmosphere that we all love, travellers sharing not only a space, but an experience.

This will make your stay a memorable one!

Super clean and modern! Loved all the places to hangout at the hostel. Open-air reading room in the center was good for hangs or reading. Free drink coupon at check-in was clutch, too. Only downside is ... and it's a hostel, so I understand that ... but it wasn't the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Regardless, I'll be back!

The reputation for cleanliness seems to hold true which is a massive plus. Ensuitr bathroom and shower were nice and usable. Lounge was one of the prettiest I've seen with plenty of seating. The actual room and lockers were quite roomy and nice. The mattress was a little thin which was uncomfortable for a side sleeper and the pillow case oddly did not cover the entire pillow.

Overall, it was a good stay. I was there for only one night and am not sure how often the room or bathroom is cleaned; it had just been cleaned as I arrived and was very comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was low, and the diagrams on the lockers were difficult to understand, but it was nice that a locker had been provided with the stay and the staff were very helpful in explaining the mechanism (key card goes on top of the button). I would be happy to stay again.

Good value for money. I didn’t like the location, didn’t feel safe walking around outside at night.

I stay often at Wombats in Berlin, so was good to see the Munich hostel also. Wombats always good hostel, comfy bed, free drinks at the bar with a decent atmosphere. Sadly not as comparable as other hostels I've stayed with around Europe which have been excellent, but this was still pretty good and would likely pick this one again if I came back.

Feels more like an Aussie/american frat house than a hostel. Bad atmosphere. One bathroom per 6-person room. Scorching hot with no AC. 10 am check out. And you gotta make ur own bed and put on your blanket and pillow covers, and return them after.

Hostel had bed bugs (but would not reimburse us, gave us a 'free beer' token), only suited for college kids under 21, the bathrooms were disgusting, the WiFi was pretty poor.

Wombats City Hostel Munich says

We're right next to the Old Town so all the attractions are close! The one place we definitely recommend that guests visit is the Hofbräuhaus, obviously. That's why everyone comes to town - but we'd recommend not spending a lot of time with a tourist trap. Munich also has one of Europe's oldest public parks, the Englischer Garten. It's twice the size of New York's Central Park, has a lake, a standing wave for surfers, a nude beach and no less than four huge beer gardens.
The main age group of our guests is 19 to 29, like in almost every other hostel. In contrast to these, though, we don't only attract one set of people. Quite a lot of our guests don't usually stay in hostels but give it a try at wombat's because we've been recommended. We've seen couples in their 50s, or families, and they were just as satisfied as the 19-year-old American college kid who spends most of his time, err, getting wasted at the hostel bar. The highlight of the Hostel is the 'Wintergarten', an air-conditioned glass-roofed patio with great design furniture to hang out and chillax.
