Hostelworld says

Wombats City Hostel Vienna at the Naschmarkt is in a great location overlooking Vienna's biggest market. It's also a short walk from the Hofburg, Secessionhaus and the Vienna State Opera, making it ideal for those looking to soak up some culture while in the city. This modern, secure and clean hostel has friendly, helpful staff and a popular and lively bar serving cheap beer. Several Hostelworld guests have compared it favourably to a hotel.

Property Description

Centrally located directly at Vienna Naschmarkt, Wombat´s is the place to be with its proximity to all major sightseeing sites.

No matter what you want to see in Vienna, it is all just moments away from Wombats City Hostel Vienna at the Naschmarkt. The center can be reached within minutes by foot or the nearby U4 (at underground station Kettenbrueckengasse) provides a short connection between Schoenbrunn palace and the city center. It is ideal for anyone who wants to explore Vienna by day or night!

There are five big reasons why wombat's CITY Hostels became a destination in its own right:

First, we got the best cleanliness!
Unfortunately this is not something you can take for granted in many other hostels, but we do take this very seriously. We have won the Hostelworld award for the Cleanest Hostel Chain Worldwide twice.

Secondly, we also have the best amenities.
We re centrally located close to trains and public transport. There is maximum security provided, with smartcard access for the front door, the floor, the rooms and your locker. All of our rooms come with comfy wooden beds, a private shower and toilet facilities.

Other free goodies include free Wi-Fi, free bed sheets, free use of our travel guidebooks, free luggage storage, a free welcome drink and free lockers in every room.

We also offer free maps for Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Budapest and London, loads and loads of free brochures on tours, sights, accommodation and other destinations in Europe, and our free walking tour.

We offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast for an additional fee; our lively womBAR serves low priced drinks and food, internet terminals, laundromats, 24 hours reception service and - of course - no curfew, no lockout and no stupid rules.

Thirdly, we are a hostel by travellers for travellers.
We have travelled the world ourselves - so we know firsthand what you are doing and what you expect from us.
We care for you and we care for your feedback.

The fourth reason is our social atmosphere.
We make sure that you will feel safe and welcome here. When you have been on the road all day long, seeing sights and walking and walking, it's cool to have a nice scene at the hostel where you can relax, have some beers, talk and make new friends. This will make your stay a memorable one! Many travellers stayed quite a bit longer than primarily intended.

Finally, wombat's is no dirt cheap. You might find an even cheaper place to crash in town, but none where you get more value for your money.

Please be aware that we have a minimum age of 18 years. View House Rules

Overview

At Wombats City Hostel Vienna, you’ll be staying in the heart of the city – Naschmarkt (Vienna's biggest market) is literally on the doorstep. We're just south of the cultural quarter and a short stroll from the Hofburg Palace and the Vienna State Opera. We'll welcome you with a free drink when you arrive in our lively womBAR, where there's a pool table for a little friendly competition. We’ve also got free Wi-Fi for your Insta uploads and free linen so you can pack light!

Location

We’re a short walk from Kettenbrückengasse station and busy Karlsplatz is just one stop on line U4. Wieden – our local neighbourhood – is student territory; it's edgier than the historic city centre, full of electro clubs and bohemian coffee shops. The Museumsquartier is 15 minutes away on foot (don’t miss the neo-classical Kunsthistorisches Museum). If you're flying into Vienna International Airport, take the shuttle bus to Schwedenplatz, then the U4 to Kettenbrückengasse. It takes about 40 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

Like your privacy? Book one of our private double, single and twin rooms, all with en-suites. If bunking up is more your thing, we have both mixed and female dorms – handy if you're travelling with mates (or making new ones!). Stash your valuables in our lockers for peace of mind, and make the most of the free tea and coffee facilities. Linen is included, and don't worry if you run out of clean clothes – we've got a laundromat on site!

Extras and activities

Join our free walking tour to get to know Vienna a little better. Our all-you-can-eat breakfast will fuel you for the day ahead (for a small fee), and we have a lift to save your legs after all that walking. More of a night owl than an early bird? Our 24-hour reception and no curfew policy mean you can stay out till the early hours. And if you’ve got a late flight, leave your luggage with us – we won’t charge you for it.

I really enjoyed my stay. The place was ideally located. I would definitely recommend others who are visiting Vienna and on a budget trip. The staff, along with many others I met in Vienna, was super friendly. I wish my stay was longer.

Little bit out of the city center, but very clean and spacious private room! Our own bathroom was super clean, got towels included. No A/C, but this place was still not hot at all when it was over 90 degrees out. Definitely a good place to stay when in Vienna!

10/10 recommend this hostel! Good location and very upscale for a hostel in my opinion. I had a full bathroom en-suite and laundry facilities were available for a charge. The bar downstairs is nice and i also participated in a very informative austrian wine tasting for only 5 euro through the hostel!! Met people very easily and the underground station makes all of vienna very accessible. The only downside is the storage lockers were unlocked so my items were easily taken if no one was watching.

    Fabulous

Overall my stay was amazing! I loved the atmosphere and the rooms were very clean. The hang out area is the best I’ve seen. I have stayed in many hostels and I really liked Wombats. I tried to book theirs for other cities but sadly they were full. I wish there was air conditioning but I understand that most places don’t. Mid June I still had to not use covers it was so hot.

Really big hostel in a good location close to most of the sights. Bar had a pretty good atmosphere at night. Cool keycard controlled lockers. Bathrooms were nice but had no ventilation. Room gets swelteringly hot at night, even with fans. WiFi was hit or miss. Outlet for each bed.

Staff were nice! Location was ok! The directions from the train station not very clear as we got lost and had to get a taxi!

    Very Good

Felt very much like a hotel. The bar downstairs was cool but other than that, staff seemed to be there to just work. Very nice staff, just not as close knit a community as other hostels.

So hot I had to book a hotel after the first night sleeping there. The fan they provided was a joke. Would have been an ok experience anytime other than summer.

Wombats City Hostel Vienna - The Naschmarkt says

I think what makes Wombats special is that there is not the single unique thing making it special, but that we do a very good job in having it all. At this Wombats the Naschmarkt is right in front of the door. It's a unique farmer\'s market, the biggest in Vienna. Most stalls, as well as the buildings on the avenues on both sides, were built around 1910 in Art Nouveau style. It's not only one of Vienna\'s most important sights, there are also a big number of cafés, bars and restaurants, from local to exotic.
For fun, our guests like to waste themselves with beer, Jägermeister or a combination thereof. We can't deny that. A good night's sleep can be fun, too, though. It can be had; the rooms are well away from the brouhaha. And they're big, not crammed and stuffy. Klaus, CFO Wombats
