Overview

At Wombats City Hostel Vienna, you’ll be staying in the heart of the city – Naschmarkt (Vienna's biggest market) is literally on the doorstep. We're just south of the cultural quarter and a short stroll from the Hofburg Palace and the Vienna State Opera. We'll welcome you with a free drink when you arrive in our lively womBAR, where there's a pool table for a little friendly competition. We’ve also got free Wi-Fi for your Insta uploads and free linen so you can pack light!

Location

We’re a short walk from Kettenbrückengasse station and busy Karlsplatz is just one stop on line U4. Wieden – our local neighbourhood – is student territory; it's edgier than the historic city centre, full of electro clubs and bohemian coffee shops. The Museumsquartier is 15 minutes away on foot (don’t miss the neo-classical Kunsthistorisches Museum). If you're flying into Vienna International Airport, take the shuttle bus to Schwedenplatz, then the U4 to Kettenbrückengasse. It takes about 40 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

Like your privacy? Book one of our private double, single and twin rooms, all with en-suites. If bunking up is more your thing, we have both mixed and female dorms – handy if you're travelling with mates (or making new ones!). Stash your valuables in our lockers for peace of mind, and make the most of the free tea and coffee facilities. Linen is included, and don't worry if you run out of clean clothes – we've got a laundromat on site!

Extras and activities

Join our free walking tour to get to know Vienna a little better. Our all-you-can-eat breakfast will fuel you for the day ahead (for a small fee), and we have a lift to save your legs after all that walking. More of a night owl than an early bird? Our 24-hour reception and no curfew policy mean you can stay out till the early hours. And if you’ve got a late flight, leave your luggage with us – we won’t charge you for it.

This is a great hostel. The water pressure was the most intense I have ever seen in my life, it was really amazing to get ready in the morning, they will even rent you a towel free of charge. The beds were decent and you get your own plug and electrical outlet. Free high quality lockers in your room are a nice touch. You get a free welcome drink ticket when you check-in. The pizza in the bar was really good too. Thanks!

Had a great stay here and I thought the location was ideal. It's right beside supermarkets, the metro, and the lovely Naschmarkt, where you can grab tasty food to go or sit in, and the hostel gives great recommendations of what to check out there. It's also only about a 15 min walk to the start of the main centre. Rooms were fine, the en suite 6 bed dorm may mean you have to wait to use the bathroom, but I wasn't in any hurry. Nice staff, bar on site, and decent kitchen.

Absolutely phenomenal, and this is an understatement. Highly recommended this hostel, due to the cleanness and how modern the rooms are, as they use cards to open the room and to use the lockers. The location was next to a wonderful market, and a walking distance to a supermarket and to the inner city, saving you money from metro tickets. I spent it with my little sister, and it turned out to be family friendly as well. Keep up with the good quality! 😊

Great hostel that is close to everything in Vienna! Good kitchen and lots of areas to hang out outside of the room. Bathrooms and rooms were very clean. Nice big lockers in each room. Liked how I could print stuff. Only downside was that the WiFi worked on and off.

The hostel in general is amazing, but to be honest it has a hotel kinda of vibe to it. I just feel if they could do like a solo traveler activities it would be great. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay

I had a great weekend in Vienna. The staff was attentive and kind. They even had postcards, stamps and I was able to leave my post cards behind for them to ship. The breakfast was 4.90 and it was standard, however the coffee machine blew me away. I had probably the best latte I have had in a long time. The rooms have a great locking system. It is weird that there is only one bathroom. Some dude clogged our toilet and said nothing so it smelled really bad. Wish beds had a curtain or something.

Wombats City Hostel Vienna - The Naschmarkt says

I think what makes Wombats special is that there is not the single unique thing making it special, but that we do a very good job in having it all. At this Wombats the Naschmarkt is right in front of the door. It's a unique farmer\'s market, the biggest in Vienna. Most stalls, as well as the buildings on the avenues on both sides, were built around 1910 in Art Nouveau style. It's not only one of Vienna\'s most important sights, there are also a big number of cafés, bars and restaurants, from local to exotic.
For fun, our guests like to waste themselves with beer, Jägermeister or a combination thereof. We can't deny that. A good night's sleep can be fun, too, though. It can be had; the rooms are well away from the brouhaha. And they're big, not crammed and stuffy. Klaus, CFO Wombats
