YHA was an awesome place to stay. The owner or lady in the office was so lovely and was very good to us as we got there earlier than check in time, but she was happy to give us the keys to the room as we were going to a concert. Perfect place to stay nice and cheap, very tidy and clean and the bunk beds in room 12 were so comfy. No need to take bedding as they provide that as well and the shower, toilet, and bathroom was so convineant being rite by the room. Highly recommend.

I didn’t stay long but the hostel was very well maintained except for the women’s bathroom it needed a good mopping but otherwise it was wonderful. Plus the lady at the front desk was incredibly helpful and told me the best spots to watch the sunrise. They also had free tea or coffee which was a plus

I got flea bites all over my back and thighs the only night I stayed there. No one else in the room fot bitten, but I did. Everything else was nice, beyond that.

Nice hostel. Well equipped kitchen and use of herb garden was a plus. I stayed in the female dorm and appreciated that they don't cram loads of bunks in there, there's lots of space. Would recommend :)

A forgettable hostel on the other side of the river, at the time of our stay many of the guests were picking fruit. They would rise early and the hostel was quiet during the day. The kitchen and lounge are relatively small and there is a great sunny deck where many people eat drink and relax. The showers are clean and remote. Gisbourne is a large town which appears to be in decline but the agriculture keeps it alive
