    Superb

100% best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The climbing wall is HUGE! And the staff are so so friendly! Everything was so clean a dm the laundry is way cheaper than most places. They had a very nice lounge and lots of outdoor seating. I highly recommend staying here especially if you are a climber. Also they have lots of gear for rent if you are doing a hike/trek and need some gear, or if you want to climb and don’t have gear.

What a place! Encapsulating the feel of a "motel in a sleepy town". Very cozy, very comfortable, with a hell of a view. Not the best communal areas, but it is a passing-through sort of place.

    Fabulous

Really enjoyed my stay here (before and after doing the circuit). Kitchen is big enough for everyone and the dining area is also quite big. The rooms were comfortable and more than big enough to accommodate everyone. The staff was quite friendly and I had a great time hanging with them. Just overall good people here. There is a Rockwall but that's not my thing. Great feature though. Only pain is you have to pay for WiFi. I get it - it's in the middle of a Natn'l Park but I expect free WiFi.

Was nice and loads of people, however, the showers didn't work very well. Not a lot of pressure. We stayed in a private room and had to walk outside to get to the toilets. Other than that would recommend.

While there isn't much around this hostel, it was the perfect place to stay before and after our Tongariro Alpine Crossing hike.

Great place to stay if you're doing the tongariro crossing you can order the shuttle from reception. Great pub next door with good cheao food! Had a snorer in our room which ruined our sleep both nights but not the hostels fault!

Great facilities for the price and the staff was super nice. Not much in the way of security but a great place to meet others to hike with. I'd buy food before coming here as the 4Square down the road is pretty expensive.

Overpriced for what you get. 27 dollars a night to sleep in a 10 bed dorm. My bed had to be climbed on to reach the top bunk. Paying for wifi these days is unheard of. Bit Dusty and outdated, staff were not friendly.

This was the worse hostel I have stayed in. Ashamed it’s a YHA. Asked 3 staff members about info on the northern circuit and no one knew anything. There were flies EVERYWHERE; in the bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, hallways, everywhere. I saw a dead cockroach in the bathroom. The place kind of smelled and was dark. the showers and the beds seemed clean, but based on everything else I was skeptical. No atmosphere either. They charge double for TCS’s service ($40) than TCS does online($20).
