I was pleasantly surprised by this Hostel! From the front I was a little skeptical, but once I got through the reception area, I found the back to be a blissful oasis. Lots of hammocks and cozy places to hang outside in the community area. Note: the AC gets realllly chilly at night! Unfortunately I battled a stomach funk while I was there, so I was grateful that the bathrooms were separate from the dorm. They were fairly clean, all things considered! The location is central… and for me, fortunately only a

Lovely laid back cosy place with big lush garden. Toilets and showers are not next to rooms and AC is turned off at 6am so sleeping in may be a challenge

the garden is really cute and you have a lot of space, unfortunately there were almost no people there so the atmosphere was kind of weird. But as it was in low season I think I just came at the wrong time and there could be a great atmosphere at other times. The kitchen is only equipped with basic stuff, but there’s a lot of space. You can reach the lagoon in 10 min by foot, I haven’t tried the private beach club of the hostel.

The good: location is close to the city centre, they gave me a free tour to their other location in Bacalar Lagoon, and they have a kitchen you can use. The bad: the bar was closed, the kitchen is poorly equipped and the common areas are poorly illuminated by night and have leaks when it rains heavily. Also, the lockers are unsafe (the latch is too weak, and I wasn't feeling safe about leaving my laptop inside it).

While the location is great the place lacks daily activities that for some reason get canceled every day. The kitchen is alright, breakfast is very basic but sufficient. Garden is nice. Staff is isolated and doesnt bother to mingle at all. I think 6/7 score is decent enough.

When I arrived in the morning a girl was asking her money back for her next night because she had BEDBUGS. When I decided later to not stay there because it was not the most fun place to stay at and I wanted to go to another city I couldn’t get back my money while the girl in the morning did get it back. A lost day. Not worth to stay, not too many people. Toilets were dirty too. Also if you decide to stay, make sure you have mosquito spray!

No social atmosphere whatsoever… they have a board listing all the evening activities, none of which actually happen! Kitchen was not well equipped with only one knife and old dirty plates that really need replacing. Staff seemed bored, verging on rude. The beds and general cleanliness wasn’t great but forgivable for the cheap price. That said the hostel itself is nice - very green with lots of outdoor seating so not bad if you want a relaxed couple of nights.

Good for the price but was a very small room for a lot of people, the facilities were poor and there was nothing going on despite signs advertising events (eg beer pong?). The staff were a bit hostile but I think partially because their English wasn’t great.

A mosquito breeding ground, I got more than 30 bites in a couple of days. The AC is only on from 8-8. The facilities are very old and falling apart. One comfortable chair, all other chairs are super uncomfortable. You can get a free shuttle to the lake to hang out and swim there for a day.

Location is very good. Access to lagoon club with free shuttle is the best aspect of the hostel (although bus is slightly later than advertised). The rooms were dirty and overcrowded. Sheets and mattresses were both stained and uncomfortable. The power went out late at night for a few hours. This was obviously not their fault but there was no communication and we were sat in the pitch black for over 3 hours and nothing was said to any of the guests about what was going on. Literally left in the dark. Some o
