Property Description

The Jungfraujoch, the area around the Aletsch Glacier and the infamous north face of the Eiger draw visitors from around the world to the Bernese Oberland every year. The youth hostel in Grindelwald is just as international and multifaceted, accommodating thrill-seekers, mountaineers, skiers and tourists in groups or as solo travellers. At the foot of the legendary three peaks sits a trio of houses with offerings for a wide range of holiday wishes – whether in the rustic and cosy chalet, the bright and modern new-build, or the romantic, tucked-away forest hut. A particular treat is our 'hot pot', a large, outdoor hot tub that offers wellness with a view, in any weather. View House Rules

Amazing view from patio! Its a pretty steep hike from town but worth it. Dinner for 17.50 cant be beat. Very nice host and staff. Wish they had a fridge and maybe a stove for food storage and cooking (just have an electric kettle and microwave)

This hostel has two buildings and I stayed in the newer one which was really nice/clean/etc. The only slight issue I had with the hostel is that it’s very family-oriented and as a solo traveller there was no opportunity to socialise with people my own age. Make sure to get the right bus to Bodmi (122 and 126..?) and get off at Gaggi Sage, the hostel is just down the road. Switzerland is v limited for plant based stuff so not having a kitchen was a bit of a bummer.. but genuinely enjoyed my stay!

Really nice, quiet location overlooking the mountains. Room had connection to balcony. Downside of that is that all apartments on the floor can easily get into your room if you need to weather it out. Bus pass included if you don't want to go through the steep climb every time. Breakfast above average and will keep you full and satisfied. Would definitely stay there again.

This hostel has an amazing view of Grindelwald and the Alps. The hike up is steep and tiring, but not as bad as I expected based on others’ comments. The dorm room was fairly nice with a balcony. The pay lockers in the room are a poor idea. Regular lockers would be preferable. Also only one outlet for charging for the entire room. Breakfast was good with many options. Guests have no access to a kitchen or refrigerator. Another big negative. Way too many kids at this hostel.

Pros: clean and secure. Good beds. Cons: The guy with glasses who runs the place was combative and sarcastic and clearly resents the guests/hates his job. It’s at the top of a huge and steep hill which you either have to hike up and down or wait up to an hour for a bus. There is no kitchen, fridge, or any means of preparing and storing food. In a town as expensive as Grindelwald is to eat out in, this is a huge inconvenience. Towels cost $3
