The location of the hostel is great because it’s a little farther out of ‘town’. Little or NO noise from the ‘city’, The hostel is VERY clean and nicely decorated. My wife and I (both 60) were maybe the oldest people there but not my much, so that felt comfortable. This is obviously NOT a party hostel (or at least the area where we slept) so that added to the beauty of the valley. The breakfast was marvelous. The staff were really helpful. This is probably the best value in town.

It was clean and organized, plus the rooms were spacious. It was nice that although check-in was after 4, they still had someone at the desk if you had questions. However, I didn't like that there was no usable kitchen, except for a microwave, kettle, small bowls and utensils. Since they want you to eat their prepared dinner. Breakfast was good, similar to other swiss places - bread, cheese, coffee, fruit, yogourt, cereal, etc. The dining area was a good place to hang out, but overall quiet!

Great view of the Matterhorn from the reception & dining area (and some rooms) Breakfast selection was good. Check in and check out process all went smoothly. Only downside was that it was a bit far and uphill from the station

Was a good hostel overall! Amazing view of the Matterhorn, didn’t feel super social or like a great atmosphere to meet people. The free breakfast was really good!

Definitely not a ‘youth’ hostel. No atmosphere in the common area. Free breakfast is pretty good. Very clean and secure facilities

This is a good hostel. The late check-in (because they can) is a nuisance but the lockers help, but you better hope you have a 2 CHF coin to operate them (also a nuisance). The place is pretty clean, showers are a tad dingy but not bad. Could use a real guest kitchen with a hotplate and dishware but otherwise the microwave works well, just awkward cooking meals in the same space they sell dinner through, you always feel like you shouldn't be preparing your own food there, but they do your dishes

The eight-person dorm is actually a well-all-sleep-next-to-each-other kinda thing. There is no guest kitchen and no fridge.

"Youthhostel" lol yeah right, I stayed one week and 1/2 the guests were over the age of 50. Kind of sad that young backpackers are elbowed out of the cheapest option in expensive Zermatt. Pre-check in luggage storage consists of unsecured bags under the stairwell, in plain view. Dinner for 18.50 CHF is just OK, but there is no kitchen (huge minus) and Zermatt is pricey. ***DO NOT USE THE CLOTHES DRYER** I will not stay here if I return to Zermatt. Weaksauce even by backpacker hostel standards.

When doing laundry, drying machine broke. Reception wouldn’t allow me to use the other hotel dryers because they were using it for their bed linens. Had to then leave the following morning in wet clothes while it was 5 degrees
