Property Description

Zostel Dalhousie is a quaint, scenic backpacker hostel among Himalayan peaks of Chamba. Situated about 3 Km from the main Gandhi Chowk of Dalhousie - we have tried to be slightly away while still being acessible to the civilization.

Boasting of a gorgeous in-house cafe and huge open areas, Zostel Dalhousie is an ideal spot to laze around with a book and coffee with snowy mountains visible in the distance.
If the explorer in you is calling out, we’ll hear it well. Every day in Zostel is happening, complete with doses of laughter and experiences. Chill out with the coolest set of people from around the world and travel without hassles.
Before your mischievous minds starts wandering far, let us put one thing real straight, We take the comfort of each and every traveller very seriously.
Also, if getting intoxicated is all you’re looking for, we urge you to look ELSEWHERE. At Zostel, we’d rather pass and share episodes. ;)

Our friendly, local team will further help you plan and explore the ‘Switzerland of India’. Travelers flock to Dalhousie, the gateway to Chamba valley, to enjoy the weather, the beauty, and the distant views of the snow-clad mountains. However, that’s not all Dalhousie has to offer. One has more than a slight chance to catch a glimpse of a bear or two in Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary or to explore the gushing Satdhara Falls. But the cherry on the cake is definitely Khajjiar - - a beautiful meadow situated just outside Dalhousie.

Staff is what makes this hostel. Make sure to bring warm clothes as it gets nights cold at night and no heater but this should be expected in Dalhousie.

The staff don't speak much English, but they are friendly. Likhit speaks English really well though/heaps of fun. The morning views are worth it alone. WIFI outside of peaks hostel hours does the trick. Rooms have enough space/bigger lockers. Bathrooms are big too. It's got a lot of board games, great if you want to meet people. Getting there isn't cheap, so factor that in the price. Upstairs shutting at 11pm and no drinking was awkward. Recommend their Kalatop Forest hike back during sunset :)

There was NO Heat & it was 3°C. For some reason guests staying in another part of the Hostel insisted on playing Music & talking After 1am ,while People were sleeping next door. The guests talked until 2am after they were asked to use the common room.

Had a great stay here !! Met some lovely ppl ! One thing tht I found a lil disappointing was a the 'paid bonfire' ...it shud by the hostel every evening n not just in the "winter months" ...it gets quiet chilly post 7pm!!

Location of zostel Dalhousie is pretty awesome .working staff seriously need to pay a close attention on the cleanliness. During my stay I also found absurd management of the common area as a major issue with my other peers as well.. In the end I would like to mention that if they will figure out the above mentioned points then zostel Dalhousie is a must visit place..

So I had made this booking through Hostel world and when I reached Zostel, they said there is no booking with my name as it doesn't reflect in there system. I had booked 4 Bed Mixed Form, however, due to non availability of the beds... I was given 8 mixed bed dorm. And I was charged for 4 beds dorm .. Exchanging of mails didn't work with Zostel and I was assured by the receptionist that the remaining money will come to the card from which booking is made. That never came.

They cancelled my booking one day before check in, and then refused to assist in getting my deposit back after multiple emails. Ended up losing money on a cancellation which was initiated by the hostel and they were not helpful at all.
