Property Description

The a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn opened in June 2009. In the building of the former Hotel Stern one can still sense the cult atmosphere of the 80s right in the middle of the district. On the most sinful mile in all of Germany the Reeperbahn the hotel offers rooms in close vicinity to all the hustle and bustle.
You can't be any more central! The a&o Hamburg Reeperbahn is in the best location in the middle of St. Pauli. Right next to the hostel is an intra-city and underground train station and the trendy districts such as the Schanzenviertel, Altona and Hafencity. They can be easily reached by foot. The Central Station is just four intra-city train stops away.
The character and authenticity of the building fit right into the district and makes it one of the most popular a&o's in Germany. The lively big city atmosphere and the entertainment in the district make this location distinctive. The central location of the a&o is ideal for night owls and partygoers.

I loved staying here. Nice location either walking from the station or taking a street car. Close to the river and lots of fun places to eat. The hostel is clean, friendly staff, nice lounge and an outdoor patio. Great little kitchen with an oven and stove. I was very happy with my experience.

Located in the center of Reeperbahn, close to the subway, very spacious, ensuite rooms with towels and shower gel provided. Helpful and friendly staff.

Its fairly run down but you get what you pay for, if its location youre looking for at a great price then this is your place. The hostel itself has seen better days and definitely needs a remodel, dirty carpets, broken shower heads, faded paint but its good if you are just looking to crash for a night after partying at Reeperbahn.

I would not recommend anyone staying here unless as a last resort. The staff is distracted, and the security is questionable. Vending machines didn't work. Also, before I booked this hostel, I called to ask if they have a laundry room - yes, they said. When I arrived - no laundry room. Instead I had to run around St Pauli to look for a dry cleaner. Beds were clean, location and value for money great, but otherwise, spend a few more euros to stay in a nicer place.

We booked a room with a shared bathroom. The women's toilets were all broken aside from the one in the lobby. I never did see a working women's shower. The first employee just told me to use the toilets in the lobby (not the same floor as our room). The second employee was more helpful and put us in a room with an ensuite. There were hairs all over our towels. Also note this is right in the middle of the red light district.

We took a private room with bathroom (the most expensive). The bathroom lights did not work. The problem was not solved and they don't give to us the option to change our room for one that was with everything working. We have to take shower and use the bathroom in the dark.

On arrival the receptionist was very clearly out of his depth. He was quite rude and disorganised, preferring to interrupt our check-in by answering the phone several times. He sighed every time I asked a question. He also overcharged us and I had to prove the correct amount. Clearly customer service and the person in from of him is not important. At other times the receptionist seemed to prefer to check his Facebook than give directions to restaurants. Like guests are an unwelcome distraction.

I was aware that this hostel is located in the red light district, but Hostel entrance is located inside a parking lot and I missed the entrance at first. The water closets are so filthy and look like someone emptied ash trays on the ground of the shower stalls. I ended up washing up in the sink inside my room. It takes a lot for me to give a poor rating but this place was disgusting.
