Rimini is a popular holiday spot for Italians as it sits on Italy's eastern coastline and has a 15km stretch of shore, usually covered in colourful umbrellas. The seaside town is also renowned as one of the country's most prestigious party towns, with lively beachfront bars and clubs on its outskirts. This 2,000-year-old town has culture to offer too, from Roman relics to artistic murals paying homage to the town's famous son, film director Federico Fellini.

Rimini can be reached from several nearby large cities by train, including Bologna and Ravenna in under an hour and Florence in around 1 hour 40 minutes. If you fly into Federico Fellini International Airport (formerly known as Rimini Miramare Airport), jump on the local bus to Rimini Centro Studi to reach the centre in 18 minutes. The closest main city is the medieval walled town of San Marino on the slopes of Monte Titano, a 30-minute drive away.
