Pros.. The team are fun, kind and friendly. Fun events, lovely food, great community, very social. The treehouse is very cool too. Cons.. I stayed in a private room (it’s a wooden shed), the bathroom is mouldy and run down, water leaved everywhere inside it during the rain. The door to the room doesn’t lock from the inside and it smells strong and bad of damp. I checked out early.

Lagarto is a party hostel far deep in the woods. If you feel like a true escape and partying at the hostel without really caring about cleaning? then Lagarto is your spot! The volunteers are super nice and lovely and the activities are very fun! For anything else, it’s really far from the center of the town, the rooms are dirty, and there’s really no security at all. Do not stay there when it’s raining, the room on the first floor were flooded.

Pros: beautiful garden, really good food 2x/day. Every night there are fun activities to get to know other people with a bar serving tasty drinks. Cons: this place seriously lacks basic hygiene, bathrooms and toilets are always dirty. It rained inside the private bathroom. Rooms and matresses smell really moldy (makes you feel sick). Certain staff members did not respect boundaries and were so involved in the guests’ (romantic) lives, resulting in drama or an unpleasant stay for them.
