About

KITAYA Ryokan is a 100-year-old Japanese style building that has been registered as cultural property of Japan.
The origin of the building is a tea house named 'Mangetsu' which opened in 1916 in Sakuragi-cho, Yokohama.
The building was then relocated to Shiba-machi where it's currently located in 1930 as a Japanese style inn and restaurant 'Kanazawa-en'.
It had been loved by many people including renowned poets and writers such as Akiko Yosano and Kyoshi Takahama until they closed its door in 2016.

We started our project to renovate this historical building in our ardent desire to preserve it and its rich history.
Our hope is to make KITAYA Ryokan a place where Japanese culture and other foreign cultures meet as well as the traditional experience of staying and dining in a Ryokan.

We will offer you the beauty of Japan's good old days and we hope you can share your borderless experiences with us at KITAYA Ryokan.
