At Hostal Cataleya we focus on making our guests feel at home, within the property we have a bar and restaurant which provide service from 12 noon to 10 pm, we also have a kitchenette with basic utensils for guests to prepare breakfast, we have a terrace with incredible views of the volcanoes of Fuego, Agua and Acatenango.

We are located three blocks from the central park, and very close to the Ruins of Santa Clara, Church of San Francisco el Grande, Tanque de la Union, also in our surroundings there is a diversity of restaurants, cafes and tourist places to visit, our rooms are shared and we have some private options, our guests can be young and adults looking to stay in a cozy, fun and cheerful atmosphere.

The house is two levels, we have two shared bedrooms, each of them has three sets of bunk beds, they have a private bathroom with hot water shower inside the room, lockers tower to store personal and important things, and a small desk with a night lamp, the room is cleaned every day. The private rooms are equipped with a closet to store clothes, bedside tables, Smart TV, private bathroom and shower with hot water, have a queen bed, cleaning is done every day, towels are changed.

Cancellation policy: 3 days prior to arrival. In case of late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

We had a lovely room with a very good bed and a good bathroom. Staff (or owner?) was nice and let us check in early and check out late without extra charge. There was no other backpackers here so at this stage maybe not ideal for solo travellers but I would definitely give it a go as a group or a couple. Only downside was the extremely loud music from the bar downstairs in the evening but it stopped eventually. For the future I would recommend to the owners though to improve this. Overall good

Staff were nice, no one else seems to stay here it was very quite hard to meet people. Fine for a night or two. Lots of moths and bugs at nighttime. Good location near some nice bars and restaurants.

Close to the main plaza, museums and ruins. Great value and very quiet, I was the only one in my dorm both nights. The bathroom was old, and the shower and floor were pretty gritty. The staff were helpful and organised shuttles directly to the airport or your next hostel.
