Monasterio Hostel

Nice and friendly staff, very helpful. However, the hostel is really dirty. The bathroom was not cleaned once in the 3 nights I was there and was full of hair and grease. Had to ask for toilet paper myself after two days. Beds contained dirty sheets from previous guests that left for days and some construction workers used the shower inside the room randomly. All my food was eaten from the fridge twice. Kitchen is moldy and extremely dirty. If they would clean it would be an okay hostel.

One of the worst hostels I’ve stayed in, there is a cleaner but it doesn’t appear they clean the bathrooms at all! It’s such a shame as the owner is really friendly however there is no pride in the hostel at all. I got checked into a bed that someone was sleeping in, which shows that the hostel is not properly organised and guest hygiene is not taken seriously. There is only one bathroom which is a major problem, made worse by the fact it is absolutely filthy and smells. If it was cleaned every day the whole experience of the hostel would be 10x better. I refused to shower there as I felt it would make me dirtier than cleaner. Also the door to the hostel room doesn’t properly close which is very annoying for privacy and also security.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. More like a dungeon than a hostel. 4 of us arrived having reserved 4 beds, we were escorted to a room which stank of rancid urine to find that one of the beds reserved for us were occupied. The man said “no problem” and moved whoever was sleeping there’s belongings to the floor - didn’t bother changing the sheets or tidying anything for us - nor did he tell the girl he’d moved her things. 2 of us ended up having to share a bed.
