We great value accommodation with a variety of room types to suit family, friends and individuals alike.
We are a Host Less lodge, self-check in on arrival. All doors are electronic with pin codes. Support is online only as there are no staff on site or reception person.
We also have a spacious TV lounge, pool table, a secret movie room, dining & outdoors areas, fully equipped kitchen facilities, free Wi-Fi, paid laundry facilities.

The Crossing Backpacker is a perfect location to stay and organize your Tongariro trekking. Staff is very helpful and offer a budget bus travel to the start of the trekking and pick up at the end : just 35 NZD . kitchen is wide clean and they offer free coffe and tea. Ok wifi, room and bathroom clean. Perfect even to save money.

Really disappointed. Spa pool, drying room and pool table all didn’t work and seemingly hadn’t for months. Fires had no dry wood, kindling or lighters. Central heating was broken. No one answered the phone when we called repeatedly to ask if we were able to get kindling.

Budget lodge accommodation. We had a twin room with bunks which was extremely small with just a chair and heater. The fire was nice in the dining room but the one in the games/TV room didn't heat the room so there should have been a heater. There were no firestarters to start the fire in the morning so had to borrow from neighbour. Advertised with a spa pool but it wasn't working and hadn't been for quite some time - that should have been removed from the advertising as it is quite a draw card.
