Moustache Mcleodganj

In my years of staying in hostels, this was the worst. The host could not recommend any trek to me except for the main one of this region, the room was very dirty and facilties were unavailable, there were loud drunk friends of the host outside my room every night, every time I asked the host for something he said he'd take care of it but he never did. I was the only guest in my room and it was never cleaned, but people apparently entered it because I got home to find the toilet seat dirty.

Very comfortable hostel with great common area and great dorms. Beds are excellent with great blankets. It's further out than a lot of the main hostels though, so taxis can get expensive. There was also no other travellers there when I was there, this was surprising for a Moustache Hostel - so no travellers & no atmosphere. This did have the advantage, that I had a 4 bed dorm to myself! I would imagine this hostel is great when there is a good crowd there, but it was oddly dead when I went.
