this hostel needs work. the location is a bit off of the lagoon (maybe like a 10 min walk) and main center but the area is safe and walkable. the front door has no lock, anyone can just walk in. Kitchen is minimal (stove, toaster, mini fridge, free drinking water) but exists! dorm room looks cute and all modern but not functional. constantly have to be aware so you don't hit your head on a top dorm bed, ladders for the top bunk take up all the floor space. its aesthetically pleasing but not practical. the beds are actually pretty comfy and they have lockers for each bed (just bring your own lock!). dorm room bathroom was gross, no hand soap and wet dirty floor towel didn't get changed in the 24 hours I was there. the free breakfast is literally just DIY toast and jelly (no butter, no peanut butter). The volunteer staff actually sucks, I could never tell who worked there and twice I stood and waited at the front desk for questions while staff sat next to me and didn't acknowledge me. The local staff (anyone who wasn't white) was great and super helpful even though I don't speak much Spanish they helped me with everything. cheap and basic but I wouldn't recommend due to the unhelpful volunteer staff, the top bunks/ladder obstacles, and the location being slightly off the main strip.
