Hostal Palo Alto

We WhatsApp’d the property during the day prior to our arrival and it seemed they were expecting us, however when we arrived they did not have our reservation despite our confirmation on HostelWorld. They had no private rooms left, though María was lovely and gave us an 8 bed dorm to ourselves. The cleanliness of the hostel was not great; there were cockroach eggs under the pillow, the shared toilet would not flush, and the room smelt of cigarette smoke. I would not recommend this hostel.

Great stay, highly recommended. Maria the administrator is kind and available for questions. She puts a lot of effort into maintaining the property, rooms are cleaned daily. Wifi is decent. No hot showers but the cooler water is refreshing after a day out in the sun! Only complaint was the VERY firm mattress in shared room. The hammocks are super cozy and there is so much shade to cool off in! We'll be back if ever on San Andres again.
