Great place for a stop off either day of visiting the national park. Breakfast is served from 6.30-9am so that even those catching the early buses can get their fix (it's also a pretty good spread too). The beds are really comfy and each one has a power socket which is useful. Overall the place is decorated really nicely and kept very clean. Only real faults would be that there's no kitchen and when they close the cafe at 11 (or usually a bit later) there is nowhere to sit but your bed.

Really great hostel with plenty of social space. The TV also has a great range of channels and I was able to watch all the champions league football. The living room gives it a really homely vibe and it was easy to take a seat and join in the conversation. Breakfast had a lot of variety (just just the bread and spread you usually find in Uruguay) and although the kitchen is small, it is the best equipped hostel kitchen I've seen in a while. Would definitely go back.

This was a cool place for a couple of days with a decent breakfast and really good "pay what you want" dinners. Beds were quite cramped - bottom bunks are weirdly close to the top bunk so you can't even really sit up - and the bathrooms too are very cramped and lack privacy. The social spaces are really unique though and it's not a bad place to meet people as everyone congregates for dinner time.

Wasn't the best place for a solo traveller to meet people as there isn't much in the way of comfortable social spaces to hang out. Nobody is ever really in the restaurant upstairs where there is space, apart from for the free dinner, but most people seemed to eat it and leave. The dinners are not great but they are free so it's still a positive for me. Room was nice enough and the bed comfy. There were quite a few mosquitoes about though, so pack your insect repellent.

Rooms are a bit cramped and the place in general is quite run down. Nice common area though and some friendly cats about the place. Not all the staff speak English but it wasn't too much of a problem.

View Property Reply

Hey it is not running down! It is a house from the year 1930 and before we recycled it to build the hostel, it was abandoned for 8 years. We made many improvements in it and we will continue doing it! Our house is for sharing, it does not have an entirely commercial purpose, we are more occupied with sharing, integrating, and achieving a good stay before everything looks bright and new, salable. For us that is the most important thing, to have fun, to share, to know the city from a different place. The room in which you stayed in, it was full and it was 8 people room, we recommend that in future visits you choose a room of less people to be able to be more comfortable! We hope you choose us again to see the progress! Hug! Keep enjoying the trip!

Staff on checkin useless. Didn't seem to have a clue what he was doing and it took us at least half an hour to check in even though we were the only people he had to deal with. I think part of the problem was that the internet there is so bad, he hadn't even received the confirmation of our booking (and he didn't even know what hostel world was). So don't expect the wifi to work. Our private room was fine - small but clean. Showers were cold and a bit drab but that's kind of to be expected.

Stayed in a private double with private bathroom. It was pretty filthy and run down. Cockroaches on the floor on arrival and dust and dirt everywhere. Looked like no one had stayed there for a long time and it hadn't been cleaned for our arrival. Saw the dorm upstairs and it actually looked pretty good, so if you're a solo traveller this could be a good place, but can't honestly recommend the private double. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Stayed in plenty of hostels in the US, and this is right up there with the best. As a solo traveller it's incredibly easy to meet people as the staff put on events every night and encourage everyone to go out partying together. If you're into partying, don't worry, before 10 everyone goes out in a group and the place is peaceful from then on. Honestly can't really fault this place...

Although it says six bed dorm, it's actually 3 twin rooms in an apartment, sharing a kitchen and a bathroom. So we were surprised (in a good way) to find we effectively had a private room. Not much communal space to meet people but it's a clean place in a decent location, no real complaints.

20th Aug 2017

Bit of a strange name because the hostel is not in the centre. The bus is regular and quite cheap though. Room is pretty expensive for a dorm, but this seems to be the case in Dubrovnik in general. Had to pay an extra 5 euros to store our bags for the day though which seemed a bit steep given the amount we'd already paid for the room. Don't go on the boat trip they offer, two of the three islands were 30 minute stops with literally nothing to see or do.

We were checked in by Winter, seemed very nice. We later had a disagreement when we were overcharged for drinks - guests get a cheaper rate and we'd been recognised as guests all evening, and on one drink we were charged the full amount because I guess for some reason they stopped recognising us. Not only did he refuse to refund us the difference, saying it was impossible, he was incredibly rude and belittling about it. Rooms are cramped and stuffy.

Only real drawback is it's a little walk up the hill. On the other hand, there is a large supermarket right opposite which saves you walking whenever you need anything. It shouldn't put you off though, it's a decent hostel with a good social area to hang out in. The staff make this place -they're really helpful, friendly and encourage everybody to be social. I was there in late May and was very comfortable in a fan only room.

My room was on the top floor and on the corner of the building - the sun really beat down on us and turned it into a sauna minutes after the air con was switched off. I noticed other rooms were much cooler during the day so it would perhaps be fair to give the hotter rooms air con for a bit longer than the cooler ones. Other than that, everything here was great. Plenty of space to chill out, including a big pool.

Really cool location if you don't mind a little walk into town. Bathroom in the dorm was a bit disgusting.. the shelf was stacked with junk that looked like it had been left there for months and the drain was almost completely blocked. Dorm beds were pretty close together but the temperature in the room was good. Overall, a cool, cheap, chilled place.. but don't expect any luxury.

A really cosy place with relaxed atmosphere. Not really a place to party but I was lucky enough to meet some really nice people. The best thing about this place is the staff, all of whom are really friendly and helpful. Perry (not how it's spelt but that was a bit of a mystery to me) is verifiably insane and so much fun. If she wasn't already married I would have proposed to her. Should add: You won't be able to sleep beyond about 7am if it's sunny and you don't have air con.

Great bar and the free beer at 6 is a really easy time to meet new people. Just sit near the keg and there will always be a couple of other people around by themselves. The dorm beds are a bit close to each other so you find yourself looking your neighbour right in the eye every now and then which is a bit weird. Not the easiest place to sleep in late either as the maids come in quite early and make quite a lot of noise and the light always seemed to stay on after about 10. Recommended though.

It's hard to judge the place because there are several hostels all around this area that seem to be run through the same reception and are essentially the same place. The wifi was named 'wang fat', which is another one, so I don't know if you can guarantee why you're going to get. I booked Wang Fat on another occasion and was put somewhere else, which wasn't as nice.

I stayed in another of them a week later and the wifi was named 'wang fat' so I don't think I was actually in the Wang Fat hostel the first time. Very cool place, right amongst the forest. That does mean there's a lot of bugs though, so pack your bug spray. Not much/anything to do in the immediate vicinity and most people seemed to be there just to do rafting and/or skydiving. Three nights was maybe too much but I'd recommend a night or two for how unique the hostel is.

Decent place and they were doing a lot of improvements to the outside area which was starting to look really good. Cheap bar but was closed on Sunday - don't know if that's every week. You don't have to be a guest at the bar to use it. There are lots of other hostels on this street so you can still make use of the cheap bar if you prefer somewhere else for other reasons. The burgers also looked good.

Seemed like all the other guests had been there for an extended period of time, weeks or even months. Perhaps not the best place to meet people if you're just passing through for a few days like I was. The room was a real mess. Staff came in on a daily basis to vacuum (sometimes quite early while I was still sleeping) but never cleared the rubbish that was everywhere. Staff were generally nice and if you want to be out the centre of the city St. Kilda is alright for a couple of days.

Okay for a night's sleep but having to check out at 10 and back in at 5 makes it a real pain if you're staying multiple nights. Nice showers and worth the experience of staying in a capsule but maybe one night would have been enough.

Staff were so nice. Their synchronised round of applause when they told us tequila was 100yen was a highlight. Tequila is 100yen. I don't remember anything else.

Thank you for your comment. I hope you enjoyed to stay here and made a good memory. We realize that our shots is the best price all over Japan! Miyajiam Island is already cold too but still good to sightseeing.

We were in a large dorm and had it to ourselves for much of the time. A really nice place but there didn't seem to be many people staying there at all. On the last night the whole hostel bizarrely turned into some kind of marketplace where there were loads of people sorting through stuff they were presumably taking to sell somewhere. Our room had loads of these people sleeping in it that night, and every single one of them snored. Really Loud. Nice place though, deserves more visitors.

Walking up the stairs to this hostel was a bit scary. They spiral up what looks like a derelict building and it did feel a bit like we were about to get murdered. But don't worry, once you get to the top of the stairs and go through the door, it's a really nice place.

The rooms are really nicely decorated and the beds give you good privacy for a good night sleep. Not the best place to meet people as most guests seemed to be Russian. There were also quite a lot of young people there, seemingly on a school trip or something similar.

Decent location close to the beach. Beds were not the comfiest, but there are plenty of toilet/shower rooms on every floor so I never had to wait for one. Staff were a mixed bunch, some quite friendly, some quite rude. On google maps street view the building is derelict, but don't worry it does exist! The image just hasn't been updated for a while.

The room was absolutely filthy. I mean literally didn't look like it had been cleaned for months. The shower was so clogged up that if you had a shower that lasted more than 30 seconds you were wading in grime. I was in a 4 bed dorm in the downstairs section of the hostel, but there were larger dorms in the upstairs that looked much better - and had large lockers, which we didn't have in our room. Real shame because this place has the potential to be really good. Sort it out!

Dear Dominic&Future Guests: My sincere apologies for your bad experience while staying in Chill Hostel.Even knowing that it was during The World Cup,a crazy time in all Brasil, it is a pitty. Also a pitty is the lack of time to tell your problems While Staying here with us.Physically speaking with a person can be more productive then to go on Internet and be rude.Currently Chill Hostel is under a new direction and we would be happy to have your visit so you can see the improvements!Best Regards.
