Cheap clean hostel with a good menu and decent atmosphere as well. Central location. Showers were a little dirty but no big deal. All in all the best value for your money in Sihanoukville

Sharky Hostel Oslob, Cebu, Philippines

Originally booked the private but moved to the dorm due to a big spider under the bed - although he host assured me it was harmless. Dorms are clean enough, still open to the outside at the top so didn’t feel to secure and noise gets through easily. Cheap place right next to whale shark watching

Great location and great value for money in one of the coolest towns in Philippines. Nothing flash, but then again you're paying next to nothing for a room. We stayed in a double private room and found it to be sufficient, it had a fan and a mosquito net provided. Showers are all cold, but its so hot they feel great. We didn't encounter much of an atmosphere there as everyone seemed to be out at different places during the night time. Staff aren't the most social but will help with activities.

Thresher Cove Resort & Dive Centre, Malapascua Island, Philippines
9.7
11th Nov 2017

We stayed in the cabana fan room on the beach and it was an amazing stay. The resort itself is beautiful and while it offers the security and facilities of a resort, you don’t feel detached from the rest of the island and the Philippines - as I usually hate staying in resorts. The dive masters here are world class and we’re super helpful in organizing trips for us and booking everything in. The resort is only a 10 minute bike ride to the main beach so location is good. 10/10 would stay again!!!

Lah Tira-Cee, Malapascua Island, Philippines
6.0
10th Nov 2017

We found Lah Tira-Cee to be a nice enough hostel but a bit out of the way compared to others. We originally booked a fan room but found it unbearably hot and had to change to an aircon room which did the trick. The staff were friendly and nice. There was only one other guest so can't say much about the atmosphere. Location could definitely be better as it is inland with no views of the water and at night its very poorly lit to try and find your way to the main areas.

Arts Factory Lodge, Byron Bay, Australia

23rd Dec 2016

Obviously there's much better locations in Byron but at least they have a shuttle bus going to the town centre regularly (like every 20 minutes or so). The kitchen was disgusting the one night we went in there but that is mostly due to lazy/selfish people not cleaning up after themselves like normal human beings. The dorms felt pretty cramped.

Great hostel. We stayed in a double with ensuite and it was very clean and spacious. Incredible value for money. Helpful and friendly staff and great bar with very cheap drinks.

We came in very late and left early as we were just passing through, but from the little we stayed there the rooms were clean, facilities (shower and kitchen) were nice and well maintained and there seemed to be a good/friendly vibe to the place.

Nomads Airlie Beach, Airlie Beach, Australia

We were only there to sleep, arriving at midnight and leaving around 6am the next day so take this review with a grain of salt. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm, right near the pool. The noise from the bar is deafeningly loud so if you plan to sleep bring ear plugs or some very strong drugs. The music continued all the way until 6am... even though the bar was closed and no one was there, which I thought was really strange and annoying. The beds were comfy enough and our private facilities were clean.

Spicypai Backpackers, Pai, Thailand
9.1
10th Feb 2016

Spicy Pai was an experience all in itself. You stay in these open air huts (they have a roof and door but you're still somewhat exposed to the outside). The beds are a little hard and its very primitive living but again, worth the experience. The facilities are not too bad - just go slow on water pressure if you want a hot shower. The hang out hut has incredible views of the sunset and the rice fields on which the huts are located. Beautiful scenery and not too far of a walk into town

At Baan Khun Hostel, Chiang Mai, Thailand
5.1
9th Feb 2016

My stay at At Baan Khun was pretty average. To start with the rude man at the reception had put me in a 14 bed dorm when I had booked an 8 bed dorm. He then told me without any apology to go to my allocated bed in the 14 bed dorm, which was occupied with someone else's stuff. Again no apology, and moved me to a different bed. The bed was uncomfortable and only one shower between 20 or so people per floor. Would definitely not stay again.

Close enough to Khao San Road and fairly affordable. There isn't really a common area so atmosphere could be better. The facilities are ok but nothing amazing.

Lub d Bangkok Silom, Bangkok, Thailand

Fantastic hostel with great facilities and clean rooms. They have a big bar and common area downstairs to meet other travellers and very close to the skyrail and also the infamous Silom Rd red light district if you're up for it.

We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at Lubd Silom. We hope you had a chance to connect with other travellers and discovered memorable places on your trip. Apart from the red light district on Silom- which can be a unique experience, there are lots history and good eats on Silom Road, it's one of the oldest road in Bangkok. We hope to see you again on your next trip here!

Pretty nice hostel although a bit expensive for what you get. The staff there are super helpful and will help you plan out your stay for whatever your needs are. There are two small common areas (fit about 5-6 people in each) so it's ok for meeting people but not amazing. Showers were ok but not great and the 4 bed dorm I stayed in felt a little cramped but beds were comfy and a screen can be put around the bed for added privacy
