Requested to cancel prior to 7 days as per cancellation policy. Poor communication, still waiting on a response to my email requesting their policy documents.

Very large dorms with some bunks being segmented. Very few power outlets in room, no reading lights. Kitchen and common area is a great size. Didn't go into the lounge or TV room. Great location. Showers have privacy curtains. Weird rule that singles can't stay in a coed room

I stayed in a 2 share on the second floor. Big room and the top bunk is comfortable enough. Utilised the breakfast with $5 off voucher. Great location. Typically overpriced though for a hostel but all west coast hostels are.

In comparison to West coast prices this place is OK. Beds are comfortable and the Wi-Fi is great. Plenty of bathrooms and showers. Good breakfast with plenty of options with a big kitchen and plenty of common areas. Central to the trains and busses. It's amusing to see the staff at reception assist you with anything. It's an effort!

Having travelled thru South and Central America I was hit with the West coast hostel prices. Fortunately I was lucky to have a dorm to myself for 3 nights. The beds are suoer comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. The Hillcrest is great for a central location. Breakfast is good with cereal and toast. It can get confusing who are volunteers, students or travellers. Also the notes stuck on doors reminding people to wash their dishes is overkill.

A place will always be great if most people are willing to mix. I found there were too many travellers who didn't speak English (or weren't prepared to) so it was hard to meet others. Most of the staff are friendly and greet you with a hello and are happy to assist with any questions. Rooms and bathrooms are kept clean. Beds are comfortable. Great common area with bar. Nice breakfast with rolls, jam, juice, fruit and cereal.

This hostel seems to have rooms of all sizes everywhere. The 5 bunk dorm is a good size for backpacks and large lockers which all have built in power outlets. The beds are comfortable with a reading light and power outlets. The bunk bed can be a little shaky. Rooms are warm but the ceiling fans are good. Breakfast consists of you making your own pancakes with a banana and maple syrup. The common area is great with plenty of tables, chairs, hammocks etc. Staff are friendly. Great location

Had a great time at the Blue Iguana. Staff are awesome!! Upgraded myself to a private room which was perfect complete with dodgy Mexican plumbing that you could only laugh about. Plenty of common areas undercover and outside. Great location. About 20 minutes walk to bus station. Loved breakfast..thanks Nino. Happy times in San Cristobal :)

Beds are comfortable even the top bunk I had for 3 nights. Nights can get warm but there are two ceiling fans to make a good breeze. Rooms are a good size with lockers. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly and only a short walk next to the pool. I actually enjoyed getting up early to sit by the pool. You can use the kitchen to cook or buy breakfast - omelette, cereal, fruit etc. Was nice to relax around the bar and pool.

This place is very basic. Only a short walk to the main part of town. There were only a few travellers staying mid week and then the atmosphere picked up Friday night once people started arriving for the weekend. Breakfast week days consisted of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, coffee and cold toast. Saturday morning they make an effort and cook pancakes. Wasn't aware of a female bathroom until the day I left. One of the bathrooms doesn't even have a seat..

Friendly staff who will make an effort with you. Certainly one the most friendly hostels where I met alot of people..maybe I was just lucky. Good location, plenty of activities to do. Kitchen is used alot but isn't stocked very well. First hostel where I couldn't hire a towel or receive a free one. Wi-Fi may or may not work in your bedroom. I left the bathroom cleaner than when I arrived.
